The life, death and resurrection of Christ, who’s birth we’re about to celebrate, changed everything. However, what shouldn’t be forgotten is that Christ was born in the Middle East. Also, the shepherds, who received the good news of great joy concerning the birth of Christ, were Middle East shepherds.
Chris discusses some of the ongoing issues surrounding the controversies of Covid-19 in other countries and what some believe is the imminent threat of tyranny. Also discussed are three types of believers under persecution. We examine ancient Israel during the days of the prophet Elijah. The government under king Ahab and queen Jezebel had fallen under the influence of Baal worship, and those who continued to serve and worship the Lord were persecuted and killed.
In the U.S. we’ve seen the heavy hand of government in the response to COVID-19. They determined which businesses were essential and which ones were not. They told us how close we could be to others, whether our children could go to school and even if they could play outside with neighborhood friends. People were arrested who defied playground orders. Others were put on a no-fly list for having their mask down too long between bites of food or drinking on an airline. Families were kicked off flights because preschoolers struggled to wear masks.

According to a leading watchdog group, global levels of Christian persecution are at a record high. The number of Christians murdered on account of their faith rose 60% during the year 2020 with 91% of the violent killings for religious reasons occurring in Africa. Persecution is not isolated to just Africa, but is taking place in countries all over the world. Other forms of persecution are taking place daily with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ needing our prayers. Scripture tells us to remember those who are in bonds as being in bonds with them. The purpose of today’s program is to open our eyes to the extent of persecution taking place around the world.
