Shocking to say the least! Worldmag.com in their November 2nd issue is running an article entitled: No bluffing. The article reports that Jerry Jenkins, chairman of the board of trustees for Moody Bible Institute, openly gambles in casinos. Do the views by Jenkins have anything to do with Moody Bible Institute and their new policy that allows employees to gamble? Jenkins is best known for the Left Behind book and movie series. Worldmag.com reports that Jenkins would respectfully challenge anyone to find Biblical justification for prohibiting playing poker for money while allowing spending the same amounts to play golf or engage in fantasy sports leagues. Really? Brannon reveals that in fact the Bible has plenty to say about this issue when we look at verses on honesty, lying, deceit, ill-gotten gains, coveting and Christians supporting things that hurt families, society, and the poor. What on earth has happen to Mood Bible Institute? At one time this was perhaps the gold standard in institutions that trained men for the gospel ministry. Why are people in ministry or teachers called to a higher standard? While there are areas of Christian liberty, why is gambling in a Casino certainly not one of them? While we have liberty in some areas why do we at times have to not exercise those liberties for the protection of the gospel and weaker brothers and sisters? Topic: We take your calls.
