Were the Reformers involved in political and spiritual enterprises with the Church of Rome and other false teachers in order to “reclaim the culture”? Did the Reformers pass out voter guides and boycott retail chains that disagreed with their moralizing? No! They preached the gospel and called out the false teachers and saw millions come to faith in Jesus Christ by faith and repentance. Today’s New Religious Right is doing the exact opposite of the Reformers and are compromising the gospel for a political and cultural agenda. Topic: Again on their October 31, 2011 program David Barton and his co-host go after Brannon for his rejection of dominion theology. Hear the audio clip that includes the claim that some on the right want to neuter the church. Hear another clip by Barton on the need for Christians to take control of the culture so those with a secular viewpoint cannot survive. Where is it listed in the Scripture as the mandate of Christians to take control of the culture or the media? While people like Barton talk about being salt and light they need to understand that the light is the gospel and the gospel is not promoted but compromised when people unite with heretical teachers in spiritual enterprises even if it is for the purpose of building a bigger political coalition or to "recliam America". The gospel is bigger and more important than America and the things of this world.
