Topic: The Militarization of America’'s Police. This is an issue we have been monitoring for a few years but now that the tragic stories coming out of Ferguson, Missouri, we look at this topic and ask the following questions. Topic: Why are so many police departments receiving military hardware that was used on the battle fields in the Middle East? Topic: Why do major cities need a SWAT team and yet how are these teams often used not for a hostage situation or to confront known gang members or terrorists but to enter the homes of families on false reports and sketchy research? Hear the audio of a family that had their home raided because of tea leaves in their garbage can. The two home owners were both retired from the CIA and had a national security clearance and yet were treated like harden-criminals or a drug lord. A little homework on the part of the police and a proper test of the tea leaves could have prevented this stupid and potentially deadly mistake and violation of this families' Constitutional rights. Topic: While there are many wonderful police officers that are of high moral character that are very professional, many police departments openly admit that their departments struggle to find qualified recruits. Why are so many police departments scraping the bottom of the barrel for recruits and hiring people with known drug histories? When the taxpayers stop approving of their towns spending a million dollars on AstroTurf, as one mid-south town recently did, and other wasteful expenditures and spend more on the salaries of police officers, then perhaps towns and cities will have a flood of candidates with high moral character. Topic: Sin and sinful people are in all walks of life. Today we have more and more teachers having sex with students, we have crooked politicians, judges that are taking bribes and yes, police officers that do not have the moral character required for such an important job. The bottom line is that sin has a terrible impact on a society. Furthermore, the drastic increase in immoral and depraved people working in all occupations, including civil government, is perhaps further proof of what happens when a people reject God over and over and He finally gives them over to their sin.
