At some point in our lives we encounter times when we feel ‘backed up against the wall’ and things become so overwhelming that it appears as though there’s no way out.  Perhaps you’re going through one of those experiences right now.

Sadly, some people will succumb to depression, despair, anger, hate or bitterness, with some even taking their own life thinking that suicide is the only solution.

How can we handle such periods in life?  The guest on this Crosstalk has taken principles from Scripture and provided 10 God-given strategies for difficult times.  It helps the reader understand that the same God who led you into those circumstances will lead you out.

Robert Morgan is a writer, speaker and pastor.  He has more than 35 books in print with more than 4.5 million in circulation.  Crosstalk interviewed him previously pertaining to his 3 volumes on hymn history called, Then Sings My Soul.  He’s also appeared on Crosstalk regarding his book, 100 Bible Verses That Made America: Defining Moments That Shaped Our Enduring Foundation of Faith.  This broadcast looked at his book, The Red Sea Rules.

In the book of Exodus we see that the Israelites had been enslaved for a long time by Pharaoh and the Egyptians.  Moses then came at the direction of God and said, ‘Let my people go.’  The account details a series of plagues with Pharaoh finally giving in and releasing the Israelites.  However, as they left, they discovered that they were trapped.  Ahead of them was the Red Sea and behind them was Pharaoh’s army coming to annihilate them.

This is the way many people feel today.  Fortunately, God in His grace and mercy has left us with numerous lessons from this chapter that can be of great help in navigating through life.

As the broadcast continued, Robert shared his testimony of how the 10 rules he writes about in his book came to him.  Here’s the first five:

  • Realize that God means for you to be where you are.
  • Be more concerned for God’s glory than for your relief.
  • Acknowledge your enemy but keep your eyes on the Lord.
  • Pray
  • Stay calm and confident and give God time to work.

Robert brings helpful commentary on these as well as the other five ‘rules’ while listeners had things to say as well on this edition of Crosstalk.
