An Urgent Call to Arms Prayer Can Save Us! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

"[F]or the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them." Judg 2:18c

"When the children of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Israel cried out to the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer for the children of Israel The Spirit of the LORD came upon him." Judg 3:9a, 10

The spineless, agenda-less and vision-less Republicans just lost their third straight Special Election (this time in Mississippi), all in reliably conservative House districts.

You may ask, "So what? Why should I care enough to do anything? How will this effect me? Are Christians by definition 'Republicans'? Can't we all just get along? Is there any hope anyway?"

Let me answer these questions and, hopefully, in the process energize you to PRAY with a new URGENCY!

1.      "Why should I care?" As a Christian you should care because we are called by God to be concerned about our cities, states and nation; to pray for those in authority (Jer 29:7; 1 Tim 2:1-4); and because, if the ultra liberals/ socialists (who are humanists) win huge majorities in the House and Senate and the White House, the Supreme Court will be lost forever; your liberties will disappear under totalitarian control of an even larger and more intrusive humanist state; homosexual "marriage" will be enshrined; huge taxes will engulf your income and wealth; abortion will NEVER go away, etc., etc., etc.; And the jihadists will not be opposed in their plan to destroy the formerly Christian-based remnants of our civilization as Sharia law takes firm root in all fifty states.

In case you misunderstand God's Will as delineated in Scripture, all of the above are contrary to His Principles.

2.      "How will this effect me?" Almost every important aspect of your life and that of your family will be regulated/controlled by a State which has an anti-Christian bias and worldview. For example, take so-called "hate speech". If you make public statements which "offend" someone, off you go to jail. This happens in Canada today and the Muslims are driving Europe ("Eurabia") in that direction! Increasingly liberal "tolerance" and multiculturalism are becoming law!

3.      "Are Christians necessarily Republican?" No, definitely not; but, since Reagan this party has generally been the home of pro-lifers, family values activists, Christians, strong defense advocates, pro-American patriots, low-tax lovers, etc. Democrats favor the exact opposite menu and, despite their talk, they do not welcome true Christians with a Biblical agenda. Unfortunately, the Republican Party leadership has veered to the left and seems happy to throw Christians and their agenda under the bus (see my last Alert "Have We Lost Our Way?") as they try to become more "politically correct" and loved by the Elites (wishful thinking!).

4.      "Can't we all just get along?" No, not if you, as a Christian, love God and His Biblical principles and hate evil (Ps 97:10; Prov 8:13; Prov 20:8). We must be partisan, fighting fiercely for godliness against forces and agendas which defy what the Word tells us is abhorrent and an abomination to our Lord! (See Prov 6:16-17)

5.      "Is there any HOPE anyway?" YES! DEFINITELY! Our hope is in the Lord! Remember what the following Scriptures tells us about Him:

"Yet regard the prayer of Your servant and his supplication, O LORD my God, and listen to the cry and the prayer which Your servant is praying before You today" 1 Kings 8:28

"And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD" 2 Chron 20:3-4

"He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The LORD shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure" Ps 2:4-5

"Arise, O LORD;
Save me, O my God!
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone" Ps 3:7

"It is time for You to act, O LORD,
For they have regarded Your law as void." Ps 119:126

"I see the treacherous, and am disgusted,
Because they do not keep Your word." Ps 119:158

"In my distress I cried to the LORD,
And He heard me.
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips
And from a deceitful tongue." Ps 120:1-2

"I will lift up my eyes to the hills --
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth." Ps 121:1-2

So Jesus answered and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." Matt 21:21-22

As you can see above, as Christians we are not to be "fearful-hearted" or despondent; rather, we are to:

"Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
'Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
HE WILL COME AND SAVE YOU.'" Isa 35:4

So, our job is to understand as Jehoshaphat did and turn to the Lord for salvation.
