RABSHAKEH VS. THE GLORY OF GOD Chris discusses Isaiah chapters 36 and 37 -- the account of how the king of ancient Assyria came against the city of Jerusalem, and sent out his Rabshakeh (chief cup-bearer) to warn and threaten King Hezekiah and the people of Israel. While the Rabshakeh claimed to be sent by the Lord, he then told the people of Jerusalem not to trust that God would deliver them. But King Hezekiah's wisdom was that he cried unto the Lord, and recognized that his enemy had reproached the God of Israel. These scriptural events provide powerful insights for believers who are facing times of crisis, and who might be compelled to waver in their faith toward God.
