"Gay" Activists to Perform Cheap Political Stunt Over "Don't Ask Don't Tell"<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Washington, D.C. - This weekend, homosexual activists from the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) and other liberal organizations are planning to place 12,000 American flags on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to bemoan the roughly 12,000 former service members who have been discharged for violating the military's prohibition against immoral and unhealthy homosexual conduct.
A 2006 Zogby poll determined that 37 percent of military personnel feel that it is inappropriate to allow open homosexuals to serve in the military, and 32 percent are neutral on the issue for a combined 69 percent.  Only 26 percent feel that DADT should be repealed.  But even so, polls don't matter.  Common sense and consensus among the military's leadership does.

Matt Barber, Policy Director for Cultural Issues with Concerned Women for America (CWA), said, "This weekend's exercise amounts to another cheap political stunt intended to stir up knee-jerk emotional support for forcing the military to allow enlisted people who choose to engage in homosexual conduct to flaunt their so-called 'gayness.'  The military is no place for such radical San Francisco-style social experimentation, especially during a time of war.

"It's been the Department of Defense's long standing position that to allow open homosexual behavior and other immoral conduct harms unit cohesion and troop morale.  I know this to be true from personal experience.  I served twelve years in the military.  During basic training, one of my fellow recruits was sent home for soliciting sex from other male recruits.

"The incident was an enormous distraction from our task at hand, which was to learn how to be good soldiers.  Instead, recruits were violated, complaints were filed and our command was forced to conduct a thorough investigation.  It was an incredible waste of time and resources and definitely harmed troop morale and unit cohesion.

If liberals really want to do something to help the military, they should abandon their attempts to radically change and weaken it and support our troops by backing off and letting them win," concluded Barber.
