Lesson: 23

Title: The Prayer Before the Cross

Passage: Psalm 118

Description: Psalm 118 is Martin Luther’s favorite as he says, “This is my own psalm, which I specially love. Though the entire Psalter and Holy Scriptures are indeed very dear to me as my sole comfort and my very life, yet have I come to grips with this psalm in a special sense, so that I feel free to call it my very own.” This is the Psalm that many scholars believe was the hymn which was sung on the way to the cross. What was on our Lord’s mind as He faces His death? What did He sing? What did He pray?
