The first half hour featured guest Jerry Newcombe.  Jerry is the senior producer, on-air host, and columnist for D. James Kennedy Ministries.  He’s the author or coauthor of 30 books including, ‘The Book that Made America: How the Bible Formed Our Nation,’ ‘George Washington’s Sacred Fire’ and his latest  ‘American Amnesia: Is America Paying the Price for Forgetting God, the Source of Our Liberty?’

Discussion during this segment was energized by news concerning a recent tweet from President Trump.  The President communicated that there are legislators who seem to continually express how they feel America is to be run.  He suggested that they go back to the places they came from and then come back and show us how it’s done. The mainstream media seemingly refuses to see the ingratitude that the President was pointing to.  Then amidst all of that, a measure came before the House of Representatives yesterday in which a vote was taken whether to proceed with the impeachment of the President.

Jerry dealt with this attitude of ingratitude in a recent column he wrote titled, ‘The Era of the Ungrateful American.’  The springboard for the column was women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe because of comments she’s made that clearly show that she doesn’t like America.  He encouraged people to study our history and look at the sacrifices of so many individuals who came before us. He cited people such as the Pilgrims, John Adams, Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry and George Washington.  

Jerry summed up the first quarter hour of this discussion well when he noted that liberals who continually want to downgrade America seem to think that they can somehow destroy this nation and rebuild it in a better way.  Men have destroyed once great nations and turned them into what he described as ‘heck-holes.’ He mentioned Venezuela as one such example. 30 years ago they had a great economy but the policies of socialism turned it into a ‘basket case.’

For Jerry, it all begins with gratitude toward God.  He believes that if you’re not grateful to Him, it’s easy to not be grateful for your nation as well.
