Mr. Barton helps to confrim my belief and challenages me to test what he says. He is encouraging to hear. He is well read and has helped me maintain my faith in Christ. Basicly all he says is open your mind to Christ and not trust man to tell you what to believe. If you think he is wrong work to prove it. Outwork him. Prove him wrong. If he is what he says he is, you will find he will admit when wrong and in love tell you why your wrong. Engage, fellowship, this is what it is all about.

I fully agree with this video and would like to post it on my apologetics website KyrieEleison1.blogspot.com. Can you send me the embedded text? If you would like to include some points you would like to add, with a link to your site and a link to purchase the dvd at your site, that would be great. Thanks

Why does he have a job?

Why does a Holy Spirit filled church need a David Barton to tell them how to believe, because the church is filled with unregenerate people who are told what to believe? Generation after generation of decendents of people choses by their parents fill the pews week after week. Salvation is a rare God thing and those chosen should stay away from those buildings.

WE ARE SAVED BY THE INDWELLING OF THE SPIRIT OF CHRIST

David Barton says, "we have to believe the Bible is inspired",(by God of course) and we have to accept that this is true. David also says,"if we think and apply Biblical principles, we will be Christians". One would think that we are saved by our beliefs. I certainly agree with David that so many people profess to be Christians and then do not bother to search out what Jesus commands us to do in the Holy Scriptures. What we DO means more than what we say. Of course no one is saved by believing whatever they want to believe. But no one is saved by faith in The Bible either, it is by putting our faith in The Lord Jesus Christ to save us that we are saved. We do not save ourselves by reading The Book and then having all the right beliefs. We are saved by trusting The SAVIOR to save us. He is The Savior and we are the ones being saved. A man who needs saved, can not save himself by doing anything, or else he does not need saved. There is ONE AND ONLY ONE condition to being saved, and that is to trust The Lord Jesus Christ to save us. To hear David talk, one might think that we can save ourselves, by reading The Bible and then believing what is in the Book. But no man can even understand The Book without the help of The Holy Spirit. And certainly no man can DO what is written in The Book, without being filled with The Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ. Following The Book will save no one, unless they follow every single law in the Book their whole life. But how can anyone follow the instructions of The Book, if they can not even understand those instructions. If we love The Savior, we should want to please Him in all our ways. But if we our following The Holy Spirit we should also be aware, Like Paul, that "of sinners we are chief". After his 1st missionary trip, Paul said, "of apostles, I am least". After his 2nd trip, Paul said, "of saints I am least". But at the end of his life, Paul said, "of sinners I am chief". Paul did not come to think this way by reading the New Testament, for it was through Paul that the New Testament was being written. Paul, came to think this way, by walking and talking with The Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ and coming to know The Lord of Glory. When Paul looked at Jesus, Paul became the chief of sinners. Paul was aware that his only hope of salvation, was the Blood, mercy and grace of The Lord Jesus Christ and that is what Paul wrote about in the NT.- Romans 2:29 No, a man is a Jew(God's people or a Christian) if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, NOT BY THE WRITTEN CODE. Such a man's praise is not from men, but from God.- Romans 5:5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts BY THE HOLY SPIRIT, whom he has given us. (Notice that love is not poured into us by reading the written code) How can one follow Jesus if they do not love Him. -Romans 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been RELEASED FROM THE LAW so that WE SERVE IN THE NEW WAY OF THE SPIRIT, and NOT in the old way of the written code. -Romans 8:4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.( Notice it does not say, according to the written code)- Romans 8:9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature BUT BY THE SPIRIT, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. - We can see here that it is written in The Book that we are saved by having the Spirit of Christ living within us. We come to know The Spirit of Christ by searching for Him in The Book. Read the Book, but follow The Spirit. - Lou Newton

Profession Does Not a Christian Make

I agree with previous feedback from Lou. We don't live by Biblical "principles" because it's the Christian thing to do. We cherish the Law of God because we love HIM the giver and perfector of our faith. I so tire of pep talks and "how to" seminars "christians". PREACH THE WORD! (in season and out of season) Here is a "Biblical principle" spoken to the people of "The Book". It is the same with those who call themselves "church" as it was with the Nation Israel. Mark 7:6 And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written:' THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS,BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME. AND 2 Corinthians 13:5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test?

David Barton is an amazing speaker that challenges us with his clear presentation of Biblical thinking. I'm glad that Brannon Howse posted it but Barton's name should be on the By line!

WORSHIP THE AUTHOR OF THE BOOK
Posted On: 07/22/09 01:18:55 PM Age 65, OH
How can any person say that Jesus Christ is the Lord of their life and not even bother to read the 66 letters that Jesus has written to them. I would question the commitment of any person who claims to have given their life to Jesus Christ, that does not read every one of these letters. But it is also true that the Bible is but, The Book, and The Person of Jesus Christ is, The Word of God, as the Bible itself clearly states. The Bible is part of the creation and The Creator is The One we should seek in The Book. The Book can not save, but The Author is The One and Only Savior. My salvation does not depend on The Book but it depends on the Author of The Book. But if Jesus gives me the Book, is it not foolish to not read and study it everyday. Yes, Jesus can save me if someone throws me off of a high building; but it is only a fool that would jump off a building to try to prove that. But the law can not save, can it. But we should all study the law, for Jesus said, those who love Him would obey His commands. Of course no man can obey these commands, but it is only when we humble ourselves and repent and ask Jesus to cause us to obey that we can. But how can we repent of sin if we know not what sin is. The church in this nation has two separate problems: ONE group does not believe the Bible is true and does not even know what sin is, so can not repent of sin. TWO another group follows the Book instead of looking to The Author of The Book. It is sin to worship the creation instead of The Creator. - There seem to be very few that look in the book to seek The Author of The Book and The Creator of all and then worship Him by following Him. - Lou Newton
