didn't convince me

Just watched the video by ron on yoga... Not saying I think he is wrong, but what he said did't convince me. What I heard on the video was not that the physical practice of yoga was wrong, but the way it was used by the Hindu's was wrong. I liken it to gun control. Guns are not bad, its how a person uses it that makes it good or bad. I have always been taught that a big part of praying is to listen to what God is saying to you. I have always been taught to go to quiet places away from distraction to talk to God. I have always been taught to clear my mind so that I can focus on my prayer. Is it not possible to use the practices of yoga to do these things without buying into the eastern religions themselves? Ron kept saying it was bad, and bad because it was used in a certain way by the eastern religions... but didn't say why it had to be used that way only. Didn't convince me.

Anxious

Good morning. I have been searching for truth regarding the practice of yoga. I enjoy the poses and they seem to help my anxiety disorder, which I have had since a child. Unfortunately, I attended a yoga teacher traing course 2002; this included a month of intense learning regarding poses, karma, medatation. I love the Lord but thought that if I only practiced the poses and shut out the theory I would be fine. I wasn't. It was a month of total isolation from the outside world. My anxiety became so bad that in the second week I had to leave. In the camp we did karma yoga, working, we had pictures of princesses on the walls, which I had no idea were buddhas. I thought buddha was a fat man sitting, I did not realize these were also buddhas. My teacher was a woman, a jew, who had been in the Israeli army. She was beautiful and seemed so in control. During some classes I would weep and she would play certain music for me in hopes to calm me down. I had no idea how demonic all this was. Until now. Although I had some warning signs i.e. I had a massage therapist who did yoga, before I went to yoga training. I got to know him. We spoke of God and I spoke of loving Jesus. He showed me where he worshipped, a room in his house, and on the wall was a picture of a yoga master. He worshipped him. A few months later I picked up a book on asana poses. When I got home I realized the fellow on the wall was the same yoga teacher in my book. This should have wakened me from my slumber, but satan has a way of saying no this is only if you do his philosphy, so I kept the book. I have also kept the yoga journal I had in yoga camp. Today I looked at these books and thought I can't burn them this is silly. The past few months I have been attending stress management through mental health, these sessions incorporate yoga and meditation. I felt uneasy and told my teacher I was a christian. She told me that in mediation I could pray. She also was aware of the Holy Spirit. There is another woman with anxiety in the class who is a christian and is having trouble with all this as well. I became very ill a year after the month in yoga camp and had to quit work and go on disability, I had been diagnosed with a blood disease. My anxiety became so great that I was hospitalized. For months I lived in a living hell, the Lord brought me out and covered me with his wings and told me to rest. My life changed. I became so dependent on God the Father, HS,and Jesus. I could not work and had to go on LTD. We moved and I joined a group of women who did precepts. Wow!! I started to understand the Word. God was teaching me. So many marvelous things happened in my life I knew it was God. However, I still hung onto the yoga. The second last time I went to my stress group the Lord told me if I did not stop He would step in again and discipline me. Today with your message I have got my answer. I will burn the yoga books and not go back to stress class. I pray that God will become even more in my life and release me from the strong holds that are hindering my further walk with Him. Thank you for this video.

Shocked and saddened...

It is hard to understand how such heretical practices have made their way into the church. It should be obvious to even the young Christian, but these practices are being approved by staff members and clergy. We have a duty to speak out against it. The Bible tells us to correct a brother that errs. Not the lost, but the so-called brother should be disciplined. Paul points out the errors of idolaters in Romans. Many times, before someone will listen to the gospel, they must see that they are going the wrong way, before they will turn to "The Way". John the baptizer spoke against the Pharisees and Herod. Jesus spoke against the Pharisees and the Merchants in the Temple. Ephesians 5:11 says we are not to have fellowship with the works of darkness, but instead we are to correct them!... If you do not correct heresies, or you simply do not respond to them, they will spread like wildfire, taking millions to hell. Use the Word of God as the Sword of the spirit, and instead, extinguish them...

I am thankful for you George. But John the baptist was a pretty good preacher and Jesus said there was none better. Yet John DID criticize the pharisees and point out the false way that the pharisees were going. I am not against black people; but I am against the racism of Obama's church and will stand against it in this election. Lou

Race and Yoga??

What in the world does race have to do with the word of God and Christianity? I thought the bible said we are all one in Christ. And what difference does it make if the Pres is black or white? Please!! We as Christians are responsible to make the best choice for our country according to the word of God. Yoga has absolutely no place in the body of Christ. I work with a lady who says she is a Christian, who does yoga, but she said it's just stretching and breathing exercises, and the emptying your mind to be able to get closer to God. If it's going to take an Eastern religious excercise to get me closer to God, something isn't right, and I don't want any part of it. Thanks to the brothers and sisters who stand strong in the righteousness of God.

Don't try to stop others, you simply stop and then tell others why. Expect ridicule and persecution. Don't use yoga to try to get close to God. Persue Him in His word, for he "has esteemed His Word above His Name."
In the end (Matthew24) there will be such a deception that even the elect could be deceived if not for Christ's intervention. Dive into the word not into Hinduism.

Stick to the GOSPEL!!!!!!

I have a simple Godly advice for my so called Conservative (?) labeled Christians that attend churches like the one in the Twin Cities. Do not waste your time in criticizing Yoga or anything else for that matter. That kind of lack-of-wisdom as exercised by that preacher (?) does not bear any fruit!
Same with the so infamous dialogue on Obama & Mr. Wright. I have heard Caucasian preachers say worse while delivering service. The Bible teaches me that I nor Obama or any one else will be judged by HIM for the spoken words of Mr. Wright. Even Haggee has blasphemed the Catholics by calling them a Whore (I heard that sermon (?) and was shocked). It saddens me that Caucasians (not you in particular) often times do bring the Black Parishnors down.
It is very clear that many Caucasian fellow Americans of mine have openly expressed - like the one in a Blog I read last night "No way will a Black Man be elected a President of God Damn America". And many look the other way - when Caucasian preachers go astray while conducting a Sunday Morning service - a double standard.
Stick to God's Word. I will continue to seek God's Wisdom - lead me to HIS Understanding and will be followed by gaining HIS Knowledge, which I will share with the world to GLORIFY HIM.
Please remember, that Only HE is PERFECT.
Thanks & God Bless.

Ohio writter, do not do yoga please!

If you are doing Yoga at your church, you are doing Hindu. The demons do not care if you quote scripture to them or call them Jesus. They just want access to your mind so they can give you spiriutal expereinces. Do not leave your mind open. Do not allow anyone to lead you into mantras or into a place where you are not worshiping in Spirit and in Truth, where you can take every thought captive to Jesus. Go out of yoga quick! Caryl Matrichiano has a great DVD about yoga that is very indepth. I believe you can google her name and I know she was interviewed on Olivetreeviews.org with Jan Markel in radio archives. There is a link to her site. Please do not give the devil place. Run away!

Yoga

Hi,
I listened to the video on yoga. Our church is doing a joga class, we pray to God and meditate on His Word and we do the yoga exercises, but even doing these exercises it is more outward actually both outward on the greatness of God and yet Jesus separate and alive within both at the same time. Prior to Jesus saving me I was involved in the new age movement. I was very opposed to yoga being offered in church without knowing exactly what they were doing, because I do love the Lord God with all my heart soul and mind and would not want to offend Him nor His Holy Spirit. I do not profess yoga I profess God and His kingdom. I enjoy all He has created as good and yet I see the fall everywhere. I do not want to be confused or deceived am I just being stupid to do these exercises not getting out of my mind or even being close to what you said regarding the yogi's. Should I tell my church to stop?

Health and Wealth Bad?

I do agree that there is no place for new age teaching such as yoga in the Church.
But...
What's wrong with health, wealth and prosperity? If we were all broke and sick, no one would be able to give to any ministries?
