If the church doesn't witness then how do we exspect Christ to return .We are the only life thats left to bring forth eternal life and that is the truth of the saving grace of Jesus Christ and His reign forever!

"Witness at all times, sometimes use words"???

Never follow the word of man, but follow the Word of God. We are to be witnesses in BOTH Word AND deed. "So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." Romans 10:17 In the same way, "Let your light shine before men, in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify God on the day of visitation" Matthew 5:16. But if your reasons for good works are not to bring glory to God, then heed the warning, "Beware of practicing righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise, you will have no reward in heaven." Matthew 6:1 We are to be witnesses in all we do, including with our mouths, by speaking the Word to them. The Word is what saves and the Word says that Jesus is the Word in the flesh (John 1:1). People need the Truth of the Gospel. Non-Christians do good works, but God says their good works are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). But non-Christians do not have the saving grace of Jesus Christ to save them from their impending death. They need the Word, not just your good deeds.

To the person that said "If all else fails use words. THAT IS NOT BIBLICAL, but mens words. The bible tells us "Faith comes by HEARING and HEARING by the word of GOD. I feel it is a COP out to say " IF all else fails use words". An ATHIEST can do something nice for you, DOes that mean they are saved? LETS stick with what the BIBLE says and NOT FOOLISH QUOTES OF MEN.

Hi Ray I loved your new artical on why christians don't witness to people. I have used the Way of The Master "Princable" for three years now and it has totally changed my life given me a great tool to reach the lost. I believe that if a Christian witness to someone and he is not using the law to bring which the Holy Sprit conviction they are simply creating false converts. If they have no concern about witessing they could possiblly not be saved Or have not been convicted by the lord to do so. Thank you so much Ray, Kirk, and Todd for what you are doing to teach us Christians to seek and save the lost. Blessing Dale Keith Aurora colorado

Why don't Christians witness to the lost? I see 2 main reasons (and myriads of other smaller ones): 1) Their shepherds aren't teaching them to do so. How many Christians today show up for their weekly dose of Christian happy-talk, get their emotional fix, and go on with the rest of their week completely obvlivious to God or His Word? It saddens me to think of it. When I approach some of my coworkers and friends about it I either get blank stares or the typical "I go to church on Sundays. Isn't that what a good Christian is supposed to do?"... as if that is all that is required of us. 2) People are failing to live a life that reflects their claim of salvation and so they have no witness. I know many times after I "said the prayer and did the walk" but BEFORE I surrendered my life to Jesus as Lord I would try to witness to my friends. I vividly recall one time I was trying to witness to one friend. He pointed out that we were both stealing music via pirated MP3 files so how was my life any different from his? At that point I realized my life wasn't so different. At that point I deleted my entire collection of pirated files realizing it had destroyed my witness with that friend. I wasn't being "holy because He is Holy" 1 Peter 1:16. In that moment I realized I had merely said some words and walked to the front of a room. I had not surrendered my life to He whom I had confessed. I had confessed Him as Savior but not as LORD. That marked a turning point in my life where 1 John 2:4 slapped me in the face: The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Also 2 Corinthians 13:5- Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test? If the only difference between the life I live and the person I am witnessing to is that I happen to visit a specific building once a week for an hour and a half... what is my witness? That I've joined a really neat club? How sad. :(

Respectfully sir, please think more about this and I'm sure that you will see this isue clearly. Whom is to be our examples for following the commandments of our Lord...St. Francis or Jesus and then Apostles? Clearly we need to think about WHAT DID JESUS DO...and the examples of the Apostles, who preached the truth at any cost. I am regularly chastised by 'believers' for street preaching...but I will never turn aside...if not for learning of the true seriousness of sin before a Holy & Righteous God, while studying in the Biblical School of Evangelism (biblical evangelism.com) I WOULD STILL BE LOST IN MY SIN & HEADING FOR HELL...while thinking I was a christian and serving in the church. In the words of a preacher from days gone by, "WAKE UP SLEEPY CHRISIAN"! Glenn.

Respectfully Sir, I disagree. We cannot be witnesses to the gospel without words. We can be examples of godly character but NOT witnesses. When Jesus said He would make "fishers of men," He didn't intend for His disciples to sit in their boats and be good examples - hoping a fish would see a better life and jump into the boat. He told them to speak on the housetops to the ends of the earth. Paul prayed for boldness to SPEAK the gospel as he ought. I know that you are only quoting someone else, but honestly our godly character and actions only open the door for us to SPEAK. As an example: One day I saw a man whose car had ran out of gas along side of the road. I stopped, took him to the gas station, and even purchased the gas can and gas to get him on his way. As I was about to leave, the man thanked me and said, "Thank you, you have restored my faith in mankind." Immediately, I responded, "Sir, I didn't mean to do that! My intention was to show you an example of how Jesus Christ saw our need as sinners and paid the price so that we might live..." Do, you see, Sir, if I had merely walked away he would NEVER have equated my kindness with his need for Christ's sacrifice.

I agree with Ray Comfort, Christians should be compelled to share the greatest news in all the world, the scripture says so. In my experience, most Christians feel inadequate in sharing the Gospel, they lack confidence, because of incompetence or lack of preparation. The scriptures remind us to "be prepared to share the hope that is within in you" with gentleness and humility, other translations, say "be ready to share". Both of these commands require preparation or readiness. Few churches teach readiness, or preparation to their flock, even rarer, is examples of "folks witnessing" told from the pulpits. In my opinion, the Christian church culture today, avoids this commandment to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every living creature." Let us change the culture, otherwise, Ray may be correct, that our churches are filled with false converts. I think it is more of a culture issue. We as a church are not preparing the flock to preach the gospel, they are not expected to. It is left to the new believer who has the excitement, but little knowlege, or Bible Basher who has the knowledge but lost the gentleness, humility, grace and love, that has created a culture of resistence to preach or recieve the good news. Using the Law "correctly" is gentle and profound. One of the important concepts often forgotten, is, if you share the gospel, you are 100% successful, period. We trust God for the results in His timing, and our part played will fit in His plan. We can't be keeping score or looking for trophies. You can't take credit for God's work or part. You can be obedient, and share and be successful everytime. Rarely does God allow you always to be the picker of His fruit, we are often the plower, or seed caster, and always 100% successful. There is no greater joy in all the world, then sharing the gospel, don't cheat yourself out of that joy. Prepare yourself, practice on the lost, become confident and teach others how. God Bless you Ray C. and your team.

Ray, was it D.L. Moody that said of Christians, "We leak?" Whoever did, it is so true. I need to be reminded everyday of the importance of sharing the gospel and the consequences of not doing so. I admit I have times of apathy and indifference. I admit that there are so many excuses that come into my thoughts each day that stiffle me from sharing the gospel. But each time I hear you speak a boldness and conviction to speak rises up in me. Thank you. I wish that I could afford your Way of the Master program so that each moringing I could begin the day your words (and Kirk's) that stir me to evangelize. Good job!!

There are many ways to witness. "Witness at all times. Sometimes use words." St. Francis of Assizi
