Jesus' disciples weren't filled or baptized in the Holy Ghost yet and so were unable to understand the deeper divine truths. Those who are today are able to by His guidance and teaching in them and through His Word (Jn. 13:16; 14:26). The whole truth is in the Word and the Holy Ghost who gave us in His holy Word "ALL things that pertain unto life and godliness". His Word contains His "exceeding great and precious promises." The unchaging Holy Ghost of God gave the Word and will always lead accordingly and never contrary to (2 Tim. 3:16-17). He actually magnifies His written Word ABOVE His own name and the Scritpures are more authoritative than the audible voice of God the Father speaking from Heaven (2 Pet. 1:16-21)

Todd,
Jesus told His Apostles in John 14:12-13: 'I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide yu to all truth.' So, where is all the Truth?

I agree that we should oppose so-called Christian leaders who condone and support philosophies, traditions, and outright heresies. That should include the people who claim, in a Gnostic way, to have special knowledge about when the Rapture will happen. Not only the blatant date setters such as Harold Camping, but those who use "weasel" words and phrases to imply that it will happen within a certain time period and then deny any predictions when the time period passes and we are still here. Those include Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impe, and Mary Stewart Relfe, among many, many others. They also claim that every new persecution of Christians by followers of Satan is a sign of an impending Rapture, conveniently ignoring the long history of persecution that began with the stoning of Stephen! And which was fortold by Jesus Christ!
