Coach Dave has "nailed it". Thank you for the courage to post this commentary about this once God-fearing land. Sadly, those days appear irrevocably behind us (save a miracle of God, of course).
I am of the belief that those my age and younger will pay with their life for their faith in Jesus Christ...in the "good 'ol USA". Satan has blinded most Americans - including most churchgoers who still believe that their government is "good". I usually reply with a question - "by what standard?"
I was saved only 6 years ago, so I did not have "eyes to see" until the last few years what I now see clearly. It has been the greatest six years of my life - and the most troubling - as the scales have literally fallen off my spiritual eyes and I am amazed at the things going on around me - especially in the churches!
I sometimes just stare at the clouds wondering how this nation that I once thought so proudly of has deteriorated so quickly before my very eyes...and most (practically all) in the churches that I try to speak with about this subject look at me like I have two heads! Why, it seems most evangelical Christians in my area of Texas believe we're either on the verge of another "Great Awakening" or the rapture will save them.
Unfortunately, I think many will be suprised at what they receive instead. I am often in deep anguish in my soul and I have cried some nights thinking about what appears to be lying around the corner in this country. I have a one year old son and I often grieve thinking of the culture he will inherit from my generation.
I beleive we're one "event" away from the American government showing its true colors - which Coach Dave has so keenly illuminated in this column. The cup of iniquity in this nation appears to be topping off...God is longsuffering and His patience - which should lead one to repentance - instead has caused many (most?) to drift further into rebellion believing that God does not see nor will He judge. But He does see...and He will judge. All of our actions will be brought to light despite what we believe is hidden in the darkness. May God have mercy on His children in the days ahead.
I will say this in closing...that this would definitely shake American Christians from their complacency - myself included. May we be on our knees repenting of our hard hearts and in fervent prayer for mercy from the King of kings and Lord of lords.

actually you aren't quite accurate. Religion can be seen in public, in schools, on the streets, on tv, and anywhere as long as the name of Jesus Christ or God is not mentioned. after all only Christians have really lost their rights. remember they teach from the koran, quran, or whatever, however it's spelled in a number of public taxpayer supported schools in the name of "cultural sensitivity and diversity TRAINING (read this as brainwashing)". homosexuality is taught as "alternative lifestyles". it's sad but to be a Christian is what has become illegal.

Judicial activism, that began before the ink was dry on the constitution, has led us to this predicament. Seperation of Church and State is not even mentioned in the Constitution. However, it originally meant that the Government could not adopt a "State Religion" and make everyone become a member of it. That's what the pilgrims fled from. Now that idea has been turned 180 degrees out from its original intent. Now it means that religion can not be seen in public. Christians have shunned politics in the churches for so long that they failed to see the danger approaching. Now I fear that it is too late to save our country. It will certainly destroy itself if christians do not start fighting back both legally and politically.

You are absolutely right, Coach. America is living in tyranny and all the misguided patriotism is pathetic.
Thank you for your article.
