JESUS HAS NO GUILE

Here is a question for you and others: When Jesus spoke this to the disciples, The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22And with that HE BREATHED ON THEM AND SAID, "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT. - If Jesus was NOT filling them with The Holy Spirit right at that time, then just what was His purpose in speaking, "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT", to the disciples. Was Jesus joking or just fooling them. Why would our dear Lord speak such a thing if NOT to fill them with The Holy Spirit. After all, Jesus has no guile within Him, and he can not lie or deceive in any way. Grace to you. - Lou Newton

JOHN AND HIS MOTHER WERE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

You say no one was filled with the Holy Spirit until the Pentecost after Jesus was raised from the dead. Let us just look at just ONE chapter and just ONE family in The Holy Scriptures to see if this is true: In Luke 1 an angel is speaking of John and says, "He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and HE WILL BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT EVEN FROM BIRTH. Was not John born before Pentecost. -Then in the same chapter, speaking of John's mother, Luke 1:41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and ELIZABETH WAS FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.- Are not the Scriptures true. God is not a respecter of persons. What makes a man righteous. Is it his own actions of repentance, then we would not be saved by grace and grace alone. The Holy Scriptures say, that John would baptize in water. Does this water save. Or does the actions of the person who is being baptized save him. Of course not, Only Jesus can save. And only Jesus can decide who will be saved. The Holy Spirit tells us through John, "The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit". It is this Holy Spirit that saves us. It is The Holy Spirit that teaches us all truth and leads us into all truth. No man can obey the law, but The Holy Spirit can cause us to follow Him. Romans 8:14 "because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God". - Are you saying that this is not true. So the question remains, how were there sons of God before the day of Pentecost. JESUS SAID, RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT ON THE 1ST EASTER SUNDAY

Thomas, you say Robert Thomas is correct when you quote him as saying, "The special presence of the Spirit as the indweller of saints will terminate abruptly at the parousia as it began abruptly at Pentecost". - Are you actually saying that The Creator of all spoke and what He spoke did not happen. Jesus appeared to His disciples on the very day that He arose from the dead, and John who WAS THERE, gave us this account: 19On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. 21Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." 22And with that HE BREATHED ON THEM AND SAID, "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven." - These words were spoke by The One who said, LET THERE BE LIGHT and there was light. This is the same Jesus who said, "LAZARUS COME FORTH" , for if Jesus had not named Lazarus all of the dead would have been raised. Are you actually saying that this same Jesus spoke, "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT" and they did NOT receive the Holy Spirit at that instant. Jesus did NOT SAY, receive The Holy Spirit in 40 days. Jesus spoke AND breathed on the disciples and they received The Holy Spirit at that instant Jesus spoke. You see Jesus does not follow the doctrines of men, but men who serve Him, follow Him. Pentecost was the 1st OUTPOURING of The Holy Spirit after Jesus died, but it was NOT the 1st time men were baptized in the Holy Spirit. You have the choice of following the doctrines of men or repenting and teaching what is written in The Holy Scriptures. - Lou Newton
