Globalism versus Patriotism

Globalism has replaced patriotism as the religion of government and corporate elites. Thomas Jefferson said, “Merchants have no country.” Neither do transnational companies, whose only loyalties are to making more and more money. The NAFTA treaty passed through Congress by a landslide majority, not because the American people wanted it so much, but because most of the American people didn’t understand how bad it would be for them; even though Ross Perot tried to warn the people of the “great sucking sound” it would cause of jobs leaving the U.S. The U.S. government officials at that time were already coddling up to the financial capitalists, disregarding the interests of the people. The U.S. government should close down the borders to illegal immigrants and to goods and services which can be manufactured in this country. Very high tariffs should be imposed on imports that we have the resources to produce ourselves. The money from these tariffs should then be used to rebuild American manufacturing. Free trade is a lie. There is no such thing as a free lunch. George Cancilla
