Why are your kids in government schools anyway?

Matt, I agree with your points. But why opt out of one day when your kids are getting indoctrinated every single day in the government schools?
My wife has a teaching degree, and we always thought we would send our kids to public school, then just deprogram them when they came home each day. (As if that were even remotely possible.) But once she started teaching we both realized that this wasn't going to work for us as Christian parents. So she quit her job, and we've been homeschooling ever since (starting our 18th year this year, with 18 more to go, since our youngest is 7 months old).
God is faithful! We have never gotten rich, but we have never gone without either. While I only make about $40,000, we've managed to pay off our debts (20 years to pay off both school loans) and live well, even with seven children. But the most important part is that we were the ones doing the indoctrinating, not a government teacher. Someone is going to indoctrinate your children--it might as well be you and your wife!
As Gary Bauer said in his recent article on AmericanVision, "These parents are concerned about 30 minutes of indoctrination when they should be worried about six hours each day, five days each week, ten months each year for 12 years of socialistic, propagandistic indoctrination.... Parents who send their children to a private school or homeschool are forced to pay for the education of their neighbors’ children. You can’t protest government healthcare if you do not protest public education."
