To take the life of an animal For food, sport or vanity Is a crime against the animal And a crime against humanity If you read the Essense Gospel of Peace, you may be surprised to learn that Jesus did not sanction the killing of animals, except in self-defense. It really is about time fundamentalist Christians started to think about animal rights issues outside the framework of their restrictive doctrines. Animals have rights as living, sentient creations. They feel pain just as humans do. May I suggest you take a tour of a slaughter house and see it all first hand. That may open your eyes to why organizations like Petra exist.Thank God they do. And thank God for people like Paul McCartney who are doing their best to show the world that we do not need to kill God's creatures in order to live. Do you imagine there are slaugher houses in heaven? I doubt it. So why not try to make this earth a little more heavenly and do all you can to promote respect for our fellow creatures.

The last two replies are as rediculous as they percieve the article to be. The point they are missing, which was so plainly spelled out, is that "Sir Paul" has reaped the rewards of his misguided politics. Wildlife and environmental conservation is a good thing, and that view is supported and practiced by many of my "Right Wing" peers. But lets keep it practical, unlike that wonderful PeTA organization where all sanity goes out the window.

Another mean spirited article. I suppose that you think Paul is misguided in his campaign against land mines and how they've crippled children world-wide. Paul does try to some positive things with his celebrity. You would do well to mutter a small fraction of his gibberish, it makes your "mush" pale in comparison.

This is one of the most rediculous things I've ever read. Yes, PETA has a history of crossing the line, but in the long run, it's a good organization meant to save "God's Animals" from torture, and extinction. Crazy right wingers would love to kill off all of the animals in the world. Organic food is just healthier and more natural. Like God intended it to be. Pesticides are a poison. To say they are not harmful is just plain ignorant. Fur coats are not a neccessity. They are a status symbol. The more rare dead animals you wear, the richer and more important you must be. If you happen to be the richest and most powerful, you might even be lucky enough to kill the last of a species and put it on display for everyone to see. Do you think God put animals here so we could kill them all off. The neccessity for animal meat for food is gone. In fact its more nutritional to not eat meat. Maybe it's no suprise that Mad Cow disease and bird flu are killing off so many people. Maybe that's God telling everyone that it's time to move on and that we no longer need to eat animals for nutrition. You people are the most self-centered idiots I have ever heard of, and you will lead to the demise of all humanity with your spreading hatred that has caused war after war.
