It is one thing to have a National Bureau of Standards to alleviate confusion in weights and measures. But it is totally another thing to have a national standard for education. The idea of education is to have productive citizens, not robots. Trying to micromanage education at any level, local, state, or federal, is the way of a tyrant state. There is no need for a federal department of education. There is no need for Congress to legislate any standards for education. Actually, public schools in general diminish family values and strong families, which is the heart of our prosperity, and a Biblical mandate as well. George Cancilla
