The 14th Amendment

Mr. Barber, An honestly wonderful, TRUTH filled commentary on the FACTS. Thank you for taking the time to pen this; I am sending it far and wide! There is so much truth packed in here over cases the MSM has distorted. This article easily picks off the "straw man" argument the liberal left tend to place in the path of TRUTH. Thanks again, Matt!

News or opinion?

This article was obviously written by a person who is passionate about this topic. I agree with him on many of his points, if not most. However, nowhere in his article does Mr. Barber cite any references, either Biblical or from the new legislation. What is the exact wording? Does it really give homosexuals and cross-dressers "preferred status" or make them out to be first class? I find this extremely hard to believe, especially when viewed in light of the rest of the article which uses such strong and apparently biased phrases as "this Orwellian piece of legislation is the direct precursor to freedom killing and speech chilling 'hate speech' laws." I'm not, by any means, trying to say that I support or even condone this legislation. I, too, think that homosexuality is reprehensible and appalling. I agree with Mr. Barber that this bill, if passed, is a step in the wrong direction, leading this nation that much closer to the day when Christians will be censured, punished, and possibly even killed for speaking out against such things that God has declared to be wrong, yet the world as accepted and even embraced. I'm just trying to bring your attention to the tone of the article. Instead of a well thought out, professional sounding rebuttal, this article (largely due to the strong language and phrases that make it sound overblown and exaggerated) comes across as an opinion piece or a rant designed to get people to become so emotionally involved with the issue that they just blindly agree with the author instead of considering all the facts and issues. I would be very interested in reading a factual article about this issue: just facts, no opinions at all. Only then can we really get to the heart of the matter and make an informed decision about what steps must be taken to ensure that this bill does not become law. Angela

Hate Crime is Bigotry Bill
Posted On: 04/22/09 10:22:29 AM Age 42, SD
I see no bills wanting to be passed for victims of rape stemming from pornography and child molestation, (particulary from priests) that would help reduce the numbers of such crimes, or killings related to greed. For example, those who rape due to being heavily involved in pornography- then pornography should be outlawed. Those who think they have a need to kill for greed should fill out an application and given lots of money from the gov. so they don't feel the urge to kill. See how perposterous this thinking is? Human nature is greedy and lustful, and there will be no law passed that will illiminate crime. The polititians know this (or at least I hope they are not that stupid), so this is totally politically driven to silence Christians. If homosexuals were happy and content with their lifestyles, then they wouldh't be offended by the gospel, just like I am not offended when called a bigot, homophobe, etc., etc., because I am happy with myself in the Lord, so I don't feel the need to cry and pout to politians how unfair someone elses speech is to me.

Hate Crimes Legislation
Posted On: 04/21/09 03:32:05 PM Age 62, MO
Representatives in Congress are certainly not reflecting the wishes of the majority of Americans. People who practice homosexual or related lifestyles are definitely a small majority of the population. This does not mean that they should not be protected, but they already are protected under existing laws. Congressional representatives have ignored the protection and prosperity of their constituents for decades in one shape or form or another. So this legislation should come as no surprise. It is like icing on the fascist cake. George Cancilla
