This article is an excellent piece on how God would have His people live with Himself and His children (and even those not His children). The one aspect missing from the article is the mandated support for the poor.
Lev 19 (among other related passages) tells us that we are to leave produce for the poor so they can live. This command, among the other related commands, are not options and in today's society would be either be done on a personal level (with reppercussions for not following them [force of law] or would be done through organizations which would require us to follow the commands and principles.
Breaking one command is like breaking them all....

Go To now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the Last Days.
The Apostle James, half brother of Jesus records this in the book of the Bible after his name in Chapter 5, verses 1-3. This prophetic declaration not only describes the current condition of our economy but in the following verses it identifies the causes. Just wages are kept back by fraud and the greed within the hearts of men.

And that right thing is... what?
See, this is the argument many claiming Christianity are having with each other. "What do Christians do in such times?" Do we pick up arms to defend the nation from oppression and cruelty as we "live the life"? Or do we preach the Gospel Biblically; Effectively; Wholeheartedly, leaving off with political dealings considering them to be a thwart or distraction from the Message?
The answer is Jesus; He is ALWAYS the Answer. Preach the Gospel; Preach the Law to the Proud and Grace to the Humble, everywhere and to every one. And then let Jesus sort out everything else as He Rules and Reigns from the new creations He makes us.
Only Jesus Saves. Only Jesus CAN Save us.

Stephen, what a wonderful article. It is hard to believe that you wrote this by yourself; I think you must have had help from the Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ who is the creator of all that exists and The Father of Abraham and all others. You show the folly of the man who said, "It IS the economy stupid" without even mentioning his name. This man appealed to the greed of all people and got elected for it. We are now paying the price of his appeal to our greed for it has come to fruition. All parties listened to this man, even his opponents, and added to the greed that has destroyed this nation. Now we have another man, who is appealing to the greed of the poor, to get food without work, and he is putting this nation even deeper in dept. The wisdom of The Man who said, seek God and His kingdom and all else will be added unto you, is more obvious every day. - Lou Newton
