I know this may be difficult, especially if you have been in the church for a number of years, but rather than "sifting" what you hear, separate from that church and pastor and seek out a church that exalts Christ and believes in (and practices) the absolute authority of Scripture. You'll be amazed how refreshing it will be in your spiritual life to be challenged, encouraged, and strengthened through solid Bible teaching and preaching.

Did you read the article?

How in the world can you come to the conclusion that this article is about bashing ppl "who do church diff" and then site not having church in a building as an example? Did you read the article? Because that was not what it was saying at all! Here is an idea! Why dont you search out what these emergent leaders are teaching and what they mean by "doing church diff" and then compare it to Biblical teaching. The sad thing is all to often ppl become defensive (as in the response above) instead of searching for Biblical TRUTH regarding these teachings. Lets stop defending man and his opinons and start defending BIBLICAL TRUTH and the Word of God.

Catholic doctrine

I read the article posted in the magazine Israel My Glory and noticed Catholic doctrine is listed as a deception. I have Catholic friends but know little about the religion. Would you be willing to tell me some of the error in the religion as practiced in the USA?
Thank you

I am in the same place as one of the other sisters stated. Show me in the bible and keep it in the context. I will gladly study it to find the truth of the word of God. Our family fell into deception by listening to our old pastor. My husband was a pastor on staff. But when we started seeing man elevated in the church and some of the emergent church doctrine emergining(didn't know it was called the emergent church at the time, but do now)we began to question some of the things being taught, always repectuflly and in private of course. We had many well known ministers come in to speak and the entire message was always about them and never about Jesus and they are calling this the power of testomony. Jesus was not the focus and it alarmed us. We tried to warn our Pastor of the unbiblical, emergent views that were being taught but we were not heard so we shook the dust off our feet and moved on. We pray for the people and that church to have the word of truth revealed to them. And we are thankful we are getting back to testing everything.

When I heard my pastor say that "The Shack" was the best book written outside the bible, I knew we were in trouble! I thank God that He answers the heart's prayer to know Him and the truth of His Word; He is faithful. Had I not been hungry for the truth, I fear I would have been sucked in to the deception. The sad part is to have to constantly be sifting what I hear now, as there is so much error. After being in some serious deception for years and thinking it was God, I now say "show me in the Word with at least 2 or 3 scriptures. I'm not believing ANYONE's teaching unless they can prove it in God's Word. I've lost friends; it's sad, but just give me Jesus.

Good ness Gracious This Is 1/2 Disinformation!

As one of the emerging church (please, no confusion with Emergent), this ranting of 1/2 truth is wrong and no less damaging to His church than the Emergent is.
Doing church differently doesn't mean changing the central doctrines given through Scripture. Doing church differently can be having no building, having house churches, using that money for missionaries or a multitude of other quite biblical actions. To say that "doing church different" is watering down the gospel is ridiculous and a 1/2 truth at best. Do some say, "do church differently" and remake the doctrines? Absolutely but to characterize all who say this and lump them in with heretics and never-weres is the speech of people who know very little of what they speak and drives believers (not non-believers) away from the body.
Just because someone can write a paper or article doesn't mean that person knows of what he or she speaks.
Grace and Peace,
Jim

What you believe

Just because you say it's so doesn't make it so. Even in the the early church there were different abominations that called themselves denominations. "Be warned!" Don't believe in your denomination over the truth of Christ's free gift. Nuff Said.

You are exactly right... and it's getting worse.

Saddly there are so very many churches that are absolutely clueless about what is happening. The pastors want something that is "contemporary", "fresh" something that is easy. Just buy the DVD, the book and vwalla... instant bible study. They don't see the poison. I have been researching Rob Bell and the Emergent Church deception for almost a year and what you have said is true. What you didn't mention was Rob Bells involvment in the Seeds of Compassion World religions seminar that took place last year in Seattle Wa. Desmond Tutu, the Doli Lama, and all the "churches" from the mulsim world to the homosexual world were gathered together to unite under god. Rob Bell was there and spoke as he was asked questions from the leaders... never once mentioning Jesus. You can look up Robs answers on You tube. This was so very sad comming from a "christian" pastor. What makes it worse is that you can buy Rob Bells DVDs and books at just about any bible book store. I know that I have always trusted my local bible book store to give me literature that was Bible based.. sadly that is just not the case. They are no longer bible book stores but religious book stores. It's no wonder that our nation is so badly in need of Jesus... our "pastors" don't know to protect the sheep. All these other authors/pastors you mentioned are also poison. I could go into their contributions into the Christian world but just be warned... if it's not the bible don't read it.Purvis
