GOD IS CONCERNED WITH THE HEART NOT THE BODY

Jimmy, you speak as you think that a literal interpretation is superior and anyone who takes the scriptures as parables has a lack of faith. Did Jesus have lack of faith when He spoke in parables. Do you think Jesus was speaking of bread when He said, "beware the yeast of the pharisees". Do you think that Peter is the rock that the church is built on. Does the man in Rome who calls himself the pope really have the "keys of the kingdom" as he claims. When Jesus spoke through Daniel of a rock not cut out by humans hands that strikes the statue on the feet of iron and clay, do you think there really will be a statue that has feet of iron and clay and it will be destroyed by a large rock. - A physical mark on the hand or on the forehead can NOT keep someone out of the kingdom of God. For a physical mark can not keep someone from humbling them self before The Lord Jesus and seeking His forgiveness for their sins. Are you actually saying that if someone gets a physical mark on their body then there is no hope of being saved. It is never the physical that God is most concerned with. It is ALWAYS a matter of the heart of a man that God is concerned with. Don't you agree. - Lou Newton

Your interpretation

Mr. Cancilla,
You state, "The false prophet will 'cause all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads'."
The Textus Receptus clearly identifies this Mark as being placed ON (not in) the right hand, or ON (not in) the forehead. Be careful of modern translations.
You state, "...But it is not a physical brand, computer chip implant, or social security or national ID number."
Again, according to Scripture the Mark of the Beast will be something put ON the unbeliever. A tatoo/brand could therefore be a strong possibility. A chip is obviousely excluded. Nontheless, nothing in Scripture eludes to the Mark being spiritual.
You state, "The Scripture says that man will not be able to buy or sell unless he receives the 'mark.'"
Yep.
However, you go on to state, "In this particular Scripture, buying and selling is meant to be a spiritual issue. Buying and selling is the antithesis of God's way. With God there is only unconditional surrender. There is no bargaining at the foot of the Cross. There is only a recognition of total helplessness and unconditional surrender."
This is one of the most clever, yet disturbing instances of one mishandling God's Word that I've personally ever witnessed. In an effort to buttress your errant spirititualizing of the texts surrounding the Mark of the Beast, you introduce biblical repentance, then blur the two topics together. Yes, in order to be born-again, the unbeliever must first repent (to stop trusting in gaining eternal life through religion, religious rituals, or obedience to God's laws). Yes, biblical repentance renders the person to a state of "total helplessness". That said, the person (unbeliever) who receives the Mark dosen't do so because he/she is "bargaining" with God, but rather because he/she has sworn is his/her heart complete allegience to Satan. Two different topics, two differnet individuals you're attempting to merge.
Mr. Cancilla, have you given any thought regarding the implications of your spiritualized interepretation to unbelievers (prospective believers) who find themselves in the Tribulation? Jimmy

NO MAN KNOWS THE TIME

Dear friend, David, you title your article, "JESUS IS RETURNING IN OUR TIME" but isn't that just another way of saying, "Jesus is returning in our DAY". I would question your whole premise of this article, for Jesus said NO MAN WOULD KNOW THE DAY. Could you not also translate that to be, "no man will know the time or even period of time". Jesus never told us that we should be trying to know the future, is not that witchcraft. Jesus told us to keep watch for we do not know when He will come. Lou Newton

Mark of the Beast

The false prophet will "cause all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads." This is the "Mark of the Beast." But it is not a physical brand, computer chip implant, or social security or national ID number. It is the number of a man. Six is the number that figuratively stands for Adam man (God made man on the sixth day). Three sixes just affirms the condition of man who is not in Christ. The Mark of the Beast is a spiritual mark of ownership. Those who have this mark are those who have given servitude to Satan in their works (right hand) and in their motivation (mind or forehead). The Scripture says that man will not be able to buy or sell unless he receives the "mark." In this particular Scripture, buying and selling is meant to be a spiritual issue. Buying and selling is the antithesis of God's way. With God there is only unconditional surrender. There is no bargaining at the foot of the Cross. There is only a recognition of total helplessness and unconditional surrender. George Cancilla

NO MAN KNOWS IF JESUS WILL COME IN THEIR DAY

When Jesus told the disciples, "Beware of the yeast of the pharisees", He was not really speaking of yeast was He. In fact the disciples thought Jesus was speaking of bread and Jesus told them, "How is it you don't understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." - Not much has changed today. The mark of the beast does not have to be a natural mark. The scriptures tell us in Matthew 13:34 "Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd in parables; he did not say anything to them without using a parable." Mere men today desire to put The Lord Jesus in handcuffs and say that he has to do this or he can not do that, because of their puny way that they reason. The Bible is full of prophecies that told when Jesus would come to this earth to die on the cross. But what mere man knew of his coming then and the fact that he would die on the cross. This mere fact should humble any man, but most are still not humbled by it. Prophecy is easy to understand AFTER it comes true, but almost no one understands prophecy BEFORE it comes true. Jesus is sovereign and can do as he pleases any day of the week. He is not constrained by the understanding of any man who claims to understand his ways. Do we not believe The Holy Scriptures when they say, 33Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34"Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?" - We can say, it seems that the time of His coming seems to be close, but Jesus said, Matthew 25:13
"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour". So no man knows if Jesus will come in that mans DAY. We have been told to keep watch and we have not done well following that command BECAUSE so many are focusing on THE WHEN of His coming. But Jesus has told us that is not our business, our command is to keep watch. Are we ALL not blind, lame, and deaf. How come so many are claiming that they can see. Lord I am blind, please heal my blindness and help me keep watch. Lou Newton
