The Lord says, "No one knows"!

The message is so simple yet many Bible "Scholars" don't see it! In Matthew 24:34-36 Christ says of the end times; v34. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. v35. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. v36. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Mark 13:30,31 and 32 read exactly the same. Then we check in with the book of Acts chapter 1:6 and 7. v6. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? v7. And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. Of course most Bible "Scholars" and Christians are looking for this "restoration of the Kingdom" but as you read on in Acts and recount Christ teachings the Kingdom Christ refers to is NOT an earthly kingdom but a Spiritual kingdom. As Christ told Pilate in John 18:36, v36. Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence. Christ speaks of the end of times, the end he refers to is the end of the Jewish age or the old law. Of course we could go on and on but the message of Christ is designed to be so simple that the most simple minded can understand and have a chance to get to Heaven.

Signs Fulfilled In First Century

Mt 24:34 says that everything described in the previous 33 verses, including the earthquakes, would occur during the lifetime of the generation then living. "Generation" is the exact same word used in Mt. 23:36, which obviously refers to the generation then living. Interesting how the vaunted pre-millennial "literal interpretation" gets tossed aside when it's not convenient (Mt. 24:34). Acts 16:26 is an example of the violent earthquakes that occurred during that period. Check out Marcellus Kik's "An Eschatology of Victory" for an explanation of how every one of the signs described in the first 33 verses occurred before 70 AD. That includes false christs, famines, wars and rumors of wars and the gospel preached to the whole world (Col. 1:6; Rom. 1:9) Pushing these and other prophecies into the distant future only gives the church an excuse for continued irrelevance in the world. Things must get worse and worse, so why bother to impact the culture.

Not the only sign

A sure end time prophecy is in Mt 24:14 "And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." I am a campus evangelist, an open air preacher. When I began preaching in 1977, there were about 5-7 such men preaching in the entire country. We prayed for decades for the Lord to raise up more preachers. In the last 4-5 years, we suddenly began to see large numbers of preachers being raised up sovereignly ALL OVER THE WORLD. I have trained preachers from half a dozen countries myself. God has been raising up tens thousands of preachers from all across the denominational terrain. In 2007 I went to the NCAA finals in Atlanta to preacher. There were about 40 preachers there surrounding the building, from all kinds of churches - Holiness, Baptist, even Seventh Day Adventists. This is a sign that has never ever been seen before. There have always been a few preachers here and there spread out over the centuries, but never in the tens of thousands. The preaching to the whole world is the last thing to happen before the end comes, and it has begun in earnest. The preaching to cover the world is the last end time sign that can not be dismissed as always having been around. I come across more and more new preachers every day. One of our associates has over 1500 preachers in his organization, representing 48 cities. I just did a Google search on "street preaching". There were approx 9,220,000 hits. Searching for street preaching or open air preaching will produce news reports from every country on the planet. If you want to know more, contact Bro Cope at jbaber@prodigy.net. There is much much more to be said about this unique end time sign.
