clarification
Posted On: 01/06/09 03:33:55 PM Age 33, OH
I must have confused a lot of people. I was referencing Isaiah 3, that refers to the nation being under judgement as being ruled by women and children. I think many people applauded her and I thought she was a wonderfully gifted and principled christian. I think it's more a reflection of the lack of male leadership and passivity, then on her personally. It just shows how far our politics have slid, nothing against her personally, perhaps I'll clarify more in a later article. Nick

Suggestion? Are You kidding?
Posted On: 01/01/09 07:11:04 PM Age 53, AZ
This type prayer is what we all should be praying everyday (except for the Palin thing.. of which I have NO idea what you mean). The rest seems on target and heart felt. The sad thing is we are only fooling ourselves to think that a seeker sensitive pastor would in any way say something that might hurt Obamas feelings or make it seem in any way that he is not a Christian, remember his rockstar democratic convention, Obama wants admiration not correction. Obama as well as Rick is so deluded in their thinking to bring God into his inauguration... please remember what God thinks of people who mess with chilren... or even babies. Luke 17:2 It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones. And that was only offending a little one... how about saying I will repeal all abortion laws as my first act as president of the US. Do you think God wants to bless this guy? How about Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Do you think that abortion may in any way keep children from knowing about or who Jesus is? I really don't think that Ricks prayer, no matter what he says is gonna change Gods mind about what Obama's abortion intentions are. This really reminds me of the stories in the old testiment where the prophets told the leaders (and the people) that they heard God say that God was going to bless them... and this all happened just before Israel went into slavery because their prophets, (pastors) leaders (and the people) didn't have a clue of what God had been telling them how they should live...America is the same. We want to have our abortions, homosexuality, porn, drugs, adultry, perversions, violent entertainment, etc... We are not one nation under God... we are one nation under heavy sinful delusion, and this act of Rick shows just how fully deluded we are. God is not with us. We don't want God in our homes, we already have a god there.. "Our TV". We don't want God in our schools.. we have evolution. We don't want God in our courts, public areas, theaters, etc.. we have let it become offensive to say the name of JESUS. What is that!!! We have taken praying to Christ out of our schools and we pay with our tax dollars to construct prayer rooms for Muslims to pray to Allah in our colleges. We have been asleep at the wheel for so many years that what Rick Warren is about to do is exactly what we as a nation are... Spiritual idiots! We have no idea what God wants from his people... and we are bold faced idiots enough to ask God to bless the next Hitler... only Hitler murdered what 8 million Jewish people? I think we as a nation have murdered 50 million babies. Lets say that Obama is a Christian.. What does the Bible say that we are to do when a "brother is in sin"... I think you know the succession of events... First we go to the brother and tell him his error. If he doesn't receive it then we get one or two to go with us and we speak to him again. Then if he still doesn't receive our correction then we pray that God bless him on HIS INAGURATION. We are idiots! Forget Rick Warren.. Forget Obama... get on YOUR knees and ask GOD for forgivness. Ask God to forgive each and everyone of us lazy Holy Spiritless American "Christians" who have let this obomination happen. God sees us as a people. Yes he also sees us a individuals but He also sees us as a nation killing "individual" babies. Allowing pornography to be the top 10 business on line in our nation. Allowing rampant homosexuality to the point of having to fight it in national legislation. Our use of drugs, witchcraft, palmreaders, etc. Get on your face and ask for forgivness... Thats it, when Rick prays for Obama... You pray for God to FORGIVE US (the United States)for our vile, arrogent, self deluded, (you can add a few more descriptions...) SINS! Thats what I'm gonna do while the homosexual band is playing YMCA at the inauguration. Purvis

Palin as instrument of God's judgment
Posted On: 12/31/08 01:20:41 PM Age 60, IL
I, too, want to know what you mean by Sarah Palin was an instrument of God's judgment.

To "Interesting Idea", posted 12/30/2008, 8:03 am, age 51 from MN - your input was interesting. Would you please explain more detail as to breaches of integrity, ethics and lawbreaking, and specifically what? Also, would you please specify Obama's conservative decisions made before becoming President? I would be interested in hearing these. Thank you.

Applaudinng Sarah Palin remark.

What in the world did you mean by your remark concerning Sarah Palin? How was she a sign of judgment?

Rick Warren needs to repent
Posted On: 12/30/08 01:18:05 PM Age 45, MT
Rick Warren is one of the biggest promoters of seeker sensitive churches there are. I only pray the Rick Warren will repent of all the things in this prayer he is guilty of himself. We can only pray that the truth of where Mr. Obama was born will come out before this day.

That would be a great prayer but....
Posted On: 12/30/08 01:14:22 PM Age 45, MT
Rick Warren is one of the biggest promoters of seeker sensitive churches there are. If Rick Warren prayed this prayer, I would hope it would be from his heart, and would be true repentence. Rick Warren, himself is guilty of many of these things listed in this prayer. We can only pray the truth will come out on the birth certificate issue before the inaugaration.

Warren is too pragmatic to be Biblical
Posted On: 12/30/08 11:52:06 AM Age 40, TN
We should certainly pray that the LORD would stir Warren's heart to be so bold. But if the past tells us anything, and his heart is not changed, Warren will not be looking to "stir the pot" but to "get along." The true gospel divides... but Warren's goal is peace while being willing to sacrifice truth. I really believe maybe he just does not understand the call of the gospel preacher... to preach the Word. And there is no peace apart from truth. Let us all strive to be less pragmatic and more like Jesus Christ. Oh, let all us repent, strive for holiness, trust God, and pray. Grant it to be so, oh LORD. In the love of Christ, Marty

question?

I am not sure what you mean by the reference to Sarah Palin?

Right On!

Sounds good to me!

Ain't gonna happen

Dream on. Isn't this the guy who spoke in North Korea and never mentioned Jesus' name?

Interesting Idea
Posted On: 12/30/08 08:03:02 AM Age 51, MN
Interesting that I didn't read anything like this 8 years ago - probably because we had a "Christian Evangelical President" and all was right with the world. Yet we saw 8 years of horrible breaches of integrity, ethics and out and out lawbreaking that will never be rivaled by an administration. Yet we were willing, for most of it, to look the other way or excuse the behavior because "he was one of us and Godly men make good decisions." We just kept praying that his decisons would be accepted - not to change them like you suggest here - even when they were so out of line Biblically. //Evangelicals worshipped thier new president every bit as much as Obama is getting adulation now and were fooled, yet never wanted to deal with it and still don't for the most part because now we can lay into Obama every chance we get. //Funny how he's made more "conservative" decisions before even becoming president than Bush has made in the past years. //It's time to take your blinders off concerning politics people.

Amen! Amen!
Posted On: 12/30/08 07:31:25 AM Age 57, AZ
Amen...Amen! You have said it so well...in so many ways. Just an added note and thought from the heart. Perhaps and just maybe instead of "God Bless America'...His people should be saying "America Bless God" May the Lord bless and keep you always, May He make His face to shine upon you. Blessings

Forgive us...
Posted On: 12/30/08 07:30:01 AM Age 46, MS
...and forgive us when we judge thing from our own human perspective, failing to remember that You work in all thing, for we see but a poor reflection, but You see what will be completed. Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.

My Hope for This Prayer
Posted On: 12/30/08 07:28:12 AM Age 35, NY
My hope is that Pastor Warren will simply be God's mouthpiece, and speak the words that God gives him. My hope is that he does not give an ecumenical prayer, or a personal issue-based prayer, or any prayer that comes from any source other than God. I do agree with a lot of the points made in the above prayer, but I don't understand what is meant by this line: "Forgive us for applauding an Esther (Palin), when she was a sign of God’s judgment." Please explain. Thank you, Bryan

Forgive Us...
Posted On: 12/30/08 07:20:59 AM Age 46, MS
...and forgive us when we look at things from our own human perspective, failing to recognize that You work in all things to fulfill Your purpose, for we see but a poor reflection, but You the Creator see what will be completed. Hallelujah! Thine the glory. Hallelujah! Amen.

It would be nice.

However, I do not believe in a million years that Warren will offer up a prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ even close to that. I am pretty sure his prayer will be as wishy washy as he is all the time. Trying to please who he is with at the moment.I do not understand why they homosexual groups are so up in arms about him being chosen. He has worked hand in hand with ACT UP, the most radical homosexual group in this nation and maybe any nation for years. All to achieve his "Purpose". Not God's purpose, or will. His own agenda. He does not speak the Gospel to them, asking them to repent of their violent and sinful actions. Nope, not him. It's not in his best interest when he is using them to achieve his own agenda. To me he is a perfect fot for our new socialist leader and their social "change". After all, Warren preaches a social(ist) gospel at best. I will pray for them both, and our nation. Prayer, and the true gospel is what this nation needs now more than any bailout those crooks in Washington will ever come up with.

Men Pleasers

Unfortunately, we can't seem to get a minister or a politician, who calls themselves a Christian, who is raised up to such high heights, who will be honest enough to tell the truth as you have done. Why can't they? It is a sad, sad, day we live in, when those who lead us and have the nerve to say they love us; yet can't warn us of the coming judgement or even the consequenses of our sins. What a wonderful opportunity these men have been given, but somewhere along the line they throw in the towel to appease man instead of Jesus!

Pauls prayer
Posted On: 12/30/08 06:04:33 AM Age 68, ME
The prayer above is excellent although I think it may be too religious for pagan America. I think Paul gave us a good example of what to say in Acts 17:22 when he told the Greeks about God.
