AMEN!
Posted On: 11/18/08 04:25:26 PM Age 40, NH
Amen! This is the only true way to impact a nation that elects it's own leaders versus the way the Middle East and the Roman world did during biblical times when leaders were the strongest and either took power or were monarchs. Of course this doesn't mean we should be neglectful of the honor to vote but the 'holy grail" is not government power to enact, "Christian laws." Grace and Peace, Jim

Where is Hope for Change
Posted On: 11/14/08 07:55:05 AM Age 43, CA
I do agree that we do have the obligation to stand for righteousness in this country and the freedom to pursue political careers in our government, however, it seems that we are making our politics our golden calf in this wild wilderness. I believe we need to stop hoping that mere men in government will change this country. I think we sometimes forget that the only life and country changer in this universe is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The battle ground is not the court, capital building or any other government building, the battle is on the bus sitting next to whoever on the way to work or the person in the cubicle next to you at work or in my case the student in my class. Lives must be changed before a country is changed. Yes we have had some moral victories in the election in terms of marriage, but did you not notice that the margin was much closer this time. If all Christians would give more attention to their own spiritual growth and time devoted to their Lord and worry about impacting the people around them with the love of God then we might have Hope. Remember in Psalm 39 the greatest king to live confessed that his Hope was only in God.

Tim should read Cal Thomas again
Posted On: 11/13/08 11:23:06 PM Age 53, ID
Tim has it wrong. Cal Thomas did not say Christians need to stay out of government. What he said was Christians were trying to use government to do the job given to Christians and the church. W. was voted into office because of his Christian credentials, yet he did nothing to further the cause of Christ. God never says He will grant political power to a Christian who gets elected. The gay marriage amendments were not putting power into the hands of a politician. Christians voted their principles in voting for traditional marriage amendments. They were not putting their faith in some elected official to use political power to further the cause of Christ. Tim, learn some better reading skills and stop throwing stones.
