The outline of history in 7 Churches not there
Posted On: 11/13/08 02:59:29 PM Age 71, OR
God bless you Chuck, Appreciate your work. And appreciated the good insights about the neglected letters from our Lord to His Church. On one insight I disagree: that the 7 Churches outline subsequent Church history. I just can't see that. I once believed that; but over the years as I've read the literature which argue for this, I found myself very uncomfortable with the attempts to force-fit each letter into some particular time-frame. Very subjective and speculative. The more solid Scriptural basis is that, like at the time when Christ gave the letters, the 7 Churches all existed; all the letters are for churches of all ages --- as you express in Point 2, Admonitory. Do appreciate your good work. John Anderson

What's the evidence?

What evidence is there that these letters preview church history? A bare assertion is useless.

ONLY TWO CHURCHES THAT JESUS HAS NOTHING AGAINST
Posted On: 11/12/08 11:56:34 AM Age 65, OH
Chuck, this article has much good information that should help many people. I agree with most of what you say. Here is an additional point about the letters. We are told in the scriptures that if we are trusting in the blood of Christ to save us and also trusting in nothing else to save us, that we are standing before God with nothing left against us, nothing that He would even scold us for. But in some of these letters the church in question is told by Jesus, "yet I hold this against you". This would indicate the church in question is not trusting in Jesus Christ to save them at all, and is not saved. If we look at the seven letters we see that Jesus has something against five of the churches. It is ONLY the weak church and the poor church that Jesus has NOTHING against. I have been looking for a weak and/or poor church for years, for that is the one I want to be part of. Some of the five churches that are lost still have a few people among them that "have not soiled their clothes", so there are a few saved people even among the lost churches. But the fact that there are only TWO among seven that Jesus has nothing against should be a very sobering thought to us all. Lou Newton
