Mysticism In My Bible Believing Church
Dear Worldview Times,
Thank you for your eye opening article. A few weeks ago my Bible believing church had an article in our newsletter promoting Mysticism. I could not believe what I was reading. I have done an in depth research on "Christian Mysticism." There is nothing Christian about, "Mysticism." I encourage all Christians who are unaware of this teaching to do an online "paper trail" for them selves. From the 1400's until now Christian Mysticism has mingled with Buddhism, Quakerism and Hinduism. Please check for your self, I was shocked! I was saved in 1976. Our Church got into a teaching error within the Shepherding movement. The teaching took us away from Jesus, not to him. The movement fell apart, but many lives were damaged. I believe that Spiritual Formation, Spiritual Director teachings are heading down the exact same path, using different words, packaged in the same error. The only scriptural mediator we need to follow is Jesus Christ. (1st Timothy 2:3-6). We cannot serve 2 masters. If Richard Foster, Dallas Willard and Larry Crabb, (New Mystics of today) think; Centering prayer, Lectio Divina, Helix, Body Prayer, Spiritual Formation (Silence) and the Cloud of the Unknowing are bringing us closer to Jesus, think again! My advice is to Run, Run, Run back into the arms of our Savior. The modern day occult mystics bring no hope to the heart, only darkness to the soul!
Blessings in the name of Jesus.

Outside of confusing emerging with Emergent (there are many differences are foundational), not being able to distinguish between the two and not investigating to find the differences and MacArthur (Johnston, and yourself among many others)being about five decades too late to stop this slide of modernistic truth destroying, this is a good article on CP.
This isn't a "postmodern" or new issue, it is the direct and obvious result of modernism where man is the end-all of knowledge.
Grace and Peace,
Jim
