Comfort article
Posted On: 10/15/08 09:57:39 AM Age 36, TN
I think what Mr. Comfort is trying to express here is the fact that the expected (ie required) response by Muslims for blasphemy of their God is violent. Sura 8:59 in the Koran is one of many examples of a command for violence against infidels (being anyone who is non-Muslim). Most Americans are clueless about what most Muslims think about non-Muslims. Keep in mind that "most" Muslims do not live in America, and I would venture a guess that most Western-raised Muslims have no idea about how Islam is actually preached and practiced in Islamic dominated countries. Required reading for all Americans should be "Because They Hate" by Brigitte Gabriel. This is an eye-opening book that, even if written from a biased perspective, is quite disturbing for the future of America. I would just ask that all Americans study the facts and history of this topic before spouting politically correct rhetoric.

Good question

You beat me to it.

All part of the latest scheme.
Posted On: 10/08/08 08:02:42 AM Age 40, AL
It is clear to me that the movie by Bill Maher is just anoter link in the latest scheme Saten has authored. It looks like a frantic last ditch effort to deceive and confuse as many as possible before the end. Satan has placed his top people in stratigic places to be the most effective. Main stream telivision being the most obvious. I am glad to know there are other Christians are aware of this scheme. My question is what are we doing to counter?

re: Maher, Christianity and Islam

Would you define "Christianity," please?

Is no one else finding this kind of passive-aggressive?
Posted On: 10/04/08 09:42:01 AM Age 22, IL
I love how Comfort makes this all about the Muslims. Because, certainly, Muslims are the only people ever known to retaliate against anything with violence. The KKK? Clearly Muslim. I mean--I don't agree with what Comfort's saying at all, but that's not the point. This article is really just a clever way for this site, and Ray Comfort, to bring this movie to people's attention: he /knows/ he doesn't have to attack it himself. All he has to do is talk about it. Ya'll will do the rest (as these comments show). Is no one else bothered by this blatant manipulation?

Calling all Christ followers!

Shouldn't we pray for Bill?

Excellent disection of Bill Maher and Religon
Posted On: 10/02/08 06:32:27 PM Age 65, OR
Ray, your message strikes to the heart of apostate Christianity and empty-hearted atheism. Stated very well, this article should be read from the pulpit in most American churches because it is a lesson to be learned by church leadership. However, your warning to Maher may return with mockery but then what would you expect from Satan's workers? A greater concern is when thrill seaking "seekers" might just be viewing the movie when a Islamic terrorist bomb explodes in the theater! The blood would be justifiably on the hands of Maher and those who produced the movie.

Maher, Christianity and Islam
Posted On: 10/02/08 03:22:58 PM Age 53, IL
The reason Christianity is mostly the target of Maher's film is simple. It's the religion of his culture and the religion he's been surrounded by his whole life. I never understand why Christians get mad when American atheists don't rail against Islam. It makes sense for them to rail against Christianity. After all - in America - it's not Islamists damning them to hell on tv and picketing abortion clinics, discriminating against gays, etc. So if Bill Maher was born and lived in the middle east he may well be protesting against Islam. (And to be honest he thinks all religions are crazy - that's why Islam IS included in the film.)

I agree with Ray.

Hollywood's New Tone
Posted On: 10/02/08 01:10:28 PM Age 50, FL
It seems to me Hollywood is taking a different tact when it comes to religion and Christianity in particular. Maher's movie is one of the latest examples how Hollywood has changed from simply mocking religion/Christianity to exclaiming it AND it's followers to be dangerous, because they believe that war is inevitable, etc. Consider actor Matt Damon's recent comments about Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin: "I really want to know if she believes dinosaurs and people lived together 4,000 yrs ago. This women would have the nuclear codes...." In other words, the fact she believes in the commonly held young earth creationist view, she is dangerous. We can expect this kind of thing to continue.

Born-Again Believers Should Stand up for Our Lord Jesus
Posted On: 10/02/08 08:14:25 AM Age 63, IL
I'm sickened and disgusted on how personalities and the media are allowed to speak of and portray our Lord Jesus Christ! This country of equality has been diminished into a nation of self-indulgent, spoiled, God-haters. We do not need another attack on our soil, we will implode ourselves. People such as Maher are put in our faces and glorified as something great when he and his lifestyle are pure filth! At least the Muslims stand up for what they believe, even though they go to terrible extremes! Shame on those who call white black and black white and to those who agree with those who do! Where are our morals and love for God? Let's stand up for Jesus, the God-Man who came on this earth only to die for all of us, even for Bill Maher! May God have mercy on his soul! If Christians had backbones, as we should, then your headline would have read "Maher's Mockery of Christianity and Jesus WILL backfire". Why mention how Muslims think of Jesus as a prophet which diminishes his Lordship and exclude Christians who know Jesus as Lord? Why mention not wanting to even sit in a theatre watching this movie which angers Muslims? True Christians should be angry at how God is diminished and portrayed and stand up for the Truth no matter what! Our country has been so blessed by God! We all should proudly and humbly defend Him and see how much more our God will Bless America! Politicians merely mouthing the words "May God continue to Bless America" has become the in-thing now to proclaim in front of the world. How easy to do with a captive audience! That is blasphemy in it's purest form if those words did not come out of a God-centered lifestyle and a heart toward Him! We owe even our breath to God, the hairs on our heads our numbered by Him, and we cannot stand up for Him against all forms of blasphemy! I pray that we become God-centered as we should be and that God does heart transplants on those who proclaim God but deny His Power!

Maher mockery of Muslims may backfire
Posted On: 10/02/08 07:54:17 AM Age 52, NY
I absolutely agree with this article. I, for one, think and feel that Maher's comments over the years have been atrocious at times. It is my belief that he should really sit down and re-think his objectives as to this movie of insidious, and cunning deceptions that he seems to enjoy putting out there for all to see and rail at. This is not the time in history to stir the pot as there is much filth at the bottom. We need lots of LOVE, compassion and understanding in order to help people instead of divisive words and tales that only serve to bring pain and suffering to the innocent. Thank you for letting me speak. Donna L.

What About Blasphemy Against Our Lord?
Posted On: 10/02/08 07:23:25 AM Age 48, IA
I'm rather surprised at Ray Comfort's article being so concerned about what Muslim's think of Bill Maher's movie. The bible clearly tells us that blasphemy will be rampant as anti-christ come to power. This is just more proof that the Word of God is faithful and true. Bill Maher is quite right about human religion which is all error - but He still needs to be condemned for his blasphemy against the one true God - Jesus Christ - The Righteous. The Lord will judge him in the end and I pray he has an awakening before it's too late. Muslims don't believe in Jesus as God and their willingness to kill anyone who is not in agreement with them proves the darkness they are in. Ray should be more concerned about the risen Lord and Savior and what He thinks of Bill Maher's blasphemy. So sad he couldn't make room in his article to give the true Creator of All the glory and stand against those who come against him and His Name - Jesus Christ! But of course, true Christians won't kill anyone who slanders our Lord - we should however stand against them while praying for their eyes to be opened.

Truth

Ray Comfort has hit the nail on the head. I pray Maher will realize that his life means nothing to Islam if they feel Allah has been offended. As Christians God teaches us to pray for our enemies who are really Jesus' enemies. However Islam has no such prayer. In His Presence.

Poking a Grizzly with a short sharp stick...
Posted On: 10/01/08 01:11:59 PM Age 44, KY
Bill Maher has worked hard for this moment, so let him finally stick his foot in his big mouth all the way up to his knee cap! I am not saying I want anything bad to happen to him, but he is so nasty, mean and evil, when you get right down to it, that maybe this is YHWH's judgment coming to him at last, or at least the consequences of an adult life spent trying to stick a finger in YHWH and Yeshua's eye. However, the devil often takes care of his own, so we will see what actually happens, for if there is one thing I know about Bill, he never knows when stop and what lines not to cross. What you have said about the Muslims be humorless, when it comes to Islam and making fun it, is spot on. So we shall see if Satan has finished with Bill and turns him over to his minions to have their way with him, as I know Bill isn't saved, and lacks the protection of our Father YHWH. But in all honesty, I don't think I would have wasted my time trying to warn Bill, cause he is far too smart to take advice from a lowly Christian and pastor... the bane of Bill's existence! If Bill wants to poke a ticked off grizzly with a short, sharp stick, hey I say let him! As an elder friend of mine used to say, the man is writing checks with his mouth, his butt can't cash! Just my take on this discussion. Mark

Well said my friend. I suggest Maher not go about ridiculing Islam if he likes his head. Then he should consider why Christians DON'T respond that way. Hmmm?
