What happened to the beleif that we are such a great Christian nation that God commands us to go fourth with our military and remake the world in our own image?
When Constantine Siezed power, Rome became the first Christian nation. It was as though the Lord himself said "Nice try!" And allowed the Barbarians to wipe them out.
The "Holy Roman Empire" was anything but Holy. God once again took away thier lamp.
Spain believed it was Gods right hand upon this Earth. When they sent fourth thier armada to "Liberate" England in the same manner we claim to be "Liberating" The Middle East, God had other plans. He took the lamp away from Spain.
The British beleived they too were the right hand of God and that they had a commission to remake the world into its own image and once again, their arrogance was struck down. The Lord says that his ways are not our ways. Who would have ever thought during the time of Rome that those evil barbarians up north would one day become the guardians of the Protestant Reformation? Or that Spain would have thier turn? We are ripe for judgement but if history provides any indication, God's Grace does allow for Christian empires to have a soft landing when they are struck from power.
