compromise for political advantage
Posted On: 10/02/08 10:07:22 AM Age 37, FL
I did not insinuate that Sarah Palin would ever adopt "my values." I realize that only God can change a heart. However... the principal of God and family ahead of personal success is a SCRIPTURAL value, not a personal opinion. My point was that in the past this website and it's contributors have seemingly supported those scriptural values and now that it is politically advantageous, they have had a convenient change of view. Also, Ruth was a childless widow - not a mom of five children (one in personal crisis, one in grade school and one with special needs) looking aspiring to a 24/7 job as a powerful world leader. The comparison is apples and oranges. There is nothing in the Bible that supports putting career advancement ahead of family responsibility.

YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO GET ELECTED
Posted On: 09/11/08 03:06:17 PM Age 64, OH
You are correct in one respect that many can be VP. But you are wrong in this point, they have to be able to get elected. There are many men, probably right on this website, that might be very good VP. But would America elect them. The better question, would the people on this website even elect them. Lou Newton

THE LESSOR OF THE EVILS OR WE GET THE GREATOR EVIL
Posted On: 09/11/08 02:55:20 PM Age 64, OH
Everyone who has ever voted for a man, and voted with intelligence, has voted for the lessor of evils. All men are evil, and we try to vote for the least evil man that we think has a real chance of winning. Otherwise we end up with the greater of the evils. Lou Newton

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I wasn't going to vote for John McCain either. I was going to write in Alan Keyes, since he was the only one who wasn't ashamed to speak as our Founding Fathers spoke! Unfortunately, I knew he would not win unless the Lord did a miracle! But now we have Sarah Palin. She also loves the Lord, and seems to have brought out the very best in the Republican platform and in John McCain! I also have wondered how this dynamic, articulate, intelligent sister in Christ could "look well to the ways of her household" while looking well to the ways of our nation, but do not our precious missionaries do the same when they pour out their lives on the mission field when God calls them? Do you remember the verse that talks about leaving sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, etc. here and receiving even more (sons, daughters, etc.) in the life to come? All for God's purpose and calling, of course. This verse does not mean "abandon" our offspring of course and not provide for them, but to obey God's call on our life, even to sacrifice and work hard as an example to them to do the same! Sometimes missionaries even have to leave their children in the care of others, in boarding school! Our Founding Fathers pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor", and you can believe that their wives and children gave and sacrificed to the utmost also in order to give us this great government based upon these "Truths that are self-evident", by the grace of God! Let us uphold our leaders in prayer so they can fulfill God's call upon their lives, and let us look well to the ways of our households, and to the ways of our nation. I'm voting for McCain/Paulin!

Think man think!!

So you think that by not voting for the lessor of two evils, we will not get evil? Do the math- we still get evil but by not voting for the lessor- we may get the greater! John

Biblical Women

Hello: I think your conviction worked well for you and you are a better person for it, but why are you trying to impose your values on Sara? Do you actually think that if she does not become VP, she will call it quits and become a stay at home mom? Do you actually think WE have control over her life and decisions? Sara IS what Sara IS, we can't make her fit our mold of what WE think a Christian should be, that mold is not us, it is the Holy Spirit. To say otherwise is to chastize Ruth, and the other strong women of the bible. It is the sort of view that says: "Ok, we know how to make a nuclear bomb, now lets pretend we don't." John

The above viewpoint is taking 1 Timothy 3:1 - 13 out of context, completely...But Palin should not leave her family to be VP, anyway. Isaiah 3:9-12, 1 Tim. 5:14, and Titus 2:5 would be better biblical precepts to observe regarding this position of God's Will towards women and His role for them. This is not a chauvinistic stance, and I wish I could profess that my wife stays at home instead of being in the workforce, but it is something that we are striving to attain, soon. When it comes to modern pragmatism or biblical principles, Christians should not abandon the fundamentals of our faith, ever.

BE CAREFUL

I am voting for McCain for who can vote for Obama who supports the murder of innocent born alive babies AFTER they are born. But the scriptures tell us to be careful and not vouch for someone we do not know. I would not be too excited about Palin until we have had time to get to know her. Lou

IRRATIONAL
Posted On: 09/08/08 12:49:19 PM Age 64, OH
It seems to me that your post is as unaware of the truth as the one you reply to. Obama is for the killing of babies that are born alive but unwanted. Obama is for partial birth abortion. McCain has voted over a hundred times against abortion. He has voted several times against bills that he felt went to far to rule against abortion. His record is not 100% against abortion of any kind. YOU COUNT THEM BOTH THE SAME. No wonder the anti abortion crowd has not been able to get abortion overturned. It is reasoning such as yours that is responsible for that. John McCain has been favorable to your views almost all of the time. Now if you do not vote for him, then you allow Obama who is totally pro abortion get elected. I would not want to abort any baby of mine and never have been involved in an abortion. But if the mothers life is at stake or the woman has been raped, I would not be in favor of the government making the decision to keep the baby in the early term or abort it. I would favor leaving the couple make this decision and not government. I still love the Lord Jesus. Lou

God could be looking at this in another way

I am an evangelical Christian and have been all of my life and love the Lord deeply. I have been observing this election and listening to various opinions. As I read the articles and various opinions on this website I find that everyone is "not" favorable toward Obama being President. Now what I am about to say will probably upset most of you, but I believe God is looking at this in another way. There has been many apologies and repentance to the African Americans and that's good but I am sensing that God is going to use Barack Obama to see if the apologies and true repentance is really real. Abortions(which is a crucial area of concern) are not just with babies but with any human life or lives that have been taken before their time, including slavery (I am from a mixed family so I have some room to talk from both sides). I know, you are upset already, but God does work like this. I will prophesy to you now, that Barack Obama will be the next President whether for good or bad. He is God's man for the hour. Remember in the Bible Cyrus was God's man, he really wasn't God fearing, Nebuchaddnezer was God's man when Jeremiah prophesied to Israel. God does use unlikely people to accomplish his purposes. He may put him in to judge our hearts here in the U.S., I don't know, but carefully consider what I am saying. This is going to happen.

OBAMA IS THE ONE TO BE DEFEATED

I Timothy 3
Posted On: 09/08/08 12:13:04 PM Age 47, TX
I Timothy 3 does NOT speak to being leader of a country. If it does, please explain. I do, however, think that she should be at home raising her children since she still has children in the home. That is the fact that disqualifies her.

Still Evil
Posted On: 09/08/08 12:08:39 PM Age 47, TX
Chuck Baldwin doesn't have a chance to win so you will still get evil in the White House and probably NOT the lesser of the two evils. Your vote for Baldwin (is he even on the ticket?) will, in essence, be a vote FOR Obama, the WORST of the two evils. You'd better think good and hard about your decision. (A non-vote is ALSO a vote for Obama.)

McCain/Palin best option

With all respect, the way one supports a type of hunting wild animals is irrelevant to this campaign when compared to the number of innocent HUMAN BABIES B. Hussein Obama will continue to KILL! We need to vote for what is right in God's eyes and the murder of humans at any age is wrong! I will vote for the people that will protect life both here and overseas and defend our freedom to worship the One True God, Jesus in spirit and truth! Not one who will usher in the radical Muslim agenda to destroy America!

cry for the wolves
Posted On: 09/07/08 08:23:32 PM Age 52, GA
The poster displays the typical PETA mentality of gross Biblical ignorance, more concerned about a marauding pack of wolves encroaching on a farm or populated area, than on millions murdered by abortion. Which do you think God is more concerned about killing varmints, or unborn humans? As humans we have been given dominion over the earth including the animals. Whether it's killing a fox in the henhouse, rodents in the barn, or wolves on the ranch, it's a necessity in this fallen world to take care of the vermin causing crop loss or other destruction, so that we may provide for ourselves, and others.

Just who is God's VP??
Posted On: 09/07/08 08:35:50 AM Age 40, CO
Obama Bin Biden supports ALL abortions. Your whining about some dog cruelty is worthless next to the abortion issue. Get your priorities straight and take what you can get with a potential VP that will actually FIGHT against the pro abortion crowd. After that, then take the lead and start a campaign against the dog shooting. Just out of curiosity, just who do you think is "God's VP"? Out of the choices I see, Sarah lines up the closest from a Biblical standpoint.

I want to vote for Palin...
Posted On: 09/06/08 07:48:24 AM Age 29, AL
I have followed Sarah Palin since shortly after she became governor. Everything about Sarah so far has impressed me greatly. She has performed wonderfully and is an inspiration to men and women. I believe she would make a great vice president and president. I said I would vote for her at first. Yet it pains me, after many days of reflection, that I can't vote for her. I want to. I really do. Because we believe that a mom’s first responsibility is the nurturing of the family, my wife is a stay at home mom. I do believe that women can work outside the home. Some are given great strength and stamina. Sarah evidently has both. And up to the present she appears to have been able to do it all. I believe she has the ability to be governor and have a family. Christians all over are already talking about her running for president. Also with McCain there is the very real possibility she could become president while being VP. Being president is a lot more than being governor. The presidency is more than a full time job. It is a life. Any president can tell of the extraordinary time and effort that goes into it. I cannot convince myself that she could even come close to putting her family first while being president. The time a new born Down syndrome child and a 7 year old daughter need cannot be found in a president’s life. I know that they would be 4 years older before Palin had a chance at the presidency the argument is still the same. I would be a hypocrite to my wife and others if I supported support her candidacy, after all I believe and have espoused about the importance of a mother’s role in a family. I cannot fathom how Palin can uphold the Biblical model of motherhood and be president. I would vote for her if her children were older. Yet sadly I cannot at this time. I 100% believe the country would be better with her in executive position than the opposition, yet I am not called to be a pragmatist. I am called to uphold what I believe is right and Biblical. It is up to the Providence of God to make it work out.

reply to Sarah Palin is not God's V.P
Posted On: 09/05/08 05:51:07 PM Age 44, FL
so let me get this straight you beleive because Governor Sarah Palin encourages and supports aerial hunting of wolves you believe she is not Gods choice. Thats the most absurd statement I have heard lately. Are you a liberal democrat? with all of the other possible candidates out there why was she picked. Remember no one can rule with out Gods blessing. And just to fill you in wolf and also coyotes are some of the most brutal hunters ever they will run down there prey till they are exhausted and attack there preys hind legs, bringing them down and then begin to feed while there prey is still alive. I have seen the video. We are stewart of all of Gods creatures and a bullet is much more humane. God has given us dominion over all of the creature to with as we see fit and God rules us all. May God bless you and this great country
