WINDFALL INSANITY- OBAMA AND COHORTS
Posted On: 08/15/08 03:11:34 PM Age 34, CA
This is a musings of a legal alien from africa studying in America; I must begin by stating without fear or favor that Obama presidency at this time of your history will be the greatest mistake americans can ever make I think the article is very plain for all straight thinking Americans; am a graduate student from africa studying in this country.Am absolutely shocked about the basic lack of economic understanding among the liberals in this country. This is my first time hearing about windfall profit as an economic major since I finished my undergraduate studies in Africa. At what point does a profit become a windfall profit? Does this obama and the democrats listen to themselves when they speak? do they ever reflect on their proposition and assumptions whenever they speak? Am very much appalled by those who blindly support this idea of windfall profit in a society where information is relatively obiquitous and literate. Whiles in Africa we are trying explore ways of cutting the size of GOvernment knowing the apparent inffficiencies associated with government; the model of democracy and capitalism is gradually sliping into mindless socialist populism like what Obama and his party is doing. I will be absolutely appalled if good people of this great nation ever vote Obama as your president; I have weighed him (obama) and he his dangerously naive and a big liar, he is behaving like a typically African ploitician bent on JUST becoming a president.

Loved It!

Great article. I am so glad you wrote this - I cannot believe how many people I run into who are economically ignorant. Even conservatives and Christians I speak to seem to have no clue how the economy works, and they are slowly buying the liberal mantra of : capitalism is bad - socialism is good!

Windfall profits?

The only redistribution of wealth found in the New Testament was a voluntary giving from the heart. Such giving comes from conviction of the Holy Spirit, and not from some mandate of civil government. The saints in Acts 2 had things in common because they wanted it that way. They were not mandated to share their wealth. The collection Paul took up from the churches he visited to give to the saints at Jerusalem was not ordered, but was a volutary giving to help their Christian brothers and sisters. Ananais and Saphira were not punished because they did not give all they had. They were punished because they lied to the Holy Spirit about how much they did have. This is not to say that predatory or monopolistic capitalism should go unchecked. Government does have a place in keeping a level playing field in a free market economy, but its actions should be before the act, not after the act. Government should prohibit the creation of money with interest by private banks. This system which is currently in place, causes a lopsidedness from the beginning because of the preferential treatment that inherently comes into play when a select group of individuals determine who can get credit. Government should create money or credit without interest based on the demand for and supply of goods and services at any given time, without any interest attached to it. Corporate profits are desirable, but they must be reinvested in the sovereign economic nation state from which they are drawn. It is impossible to maintain an economci playing field on a global scale, unless, of course, we would desire a one world government. George Cancilla
