Are You Serious?

Okay, where do I begin? It is good to see in writing the practical reason why the children of Israel marched around their blessing for 40 years, before their faith allowed them to enter into their land of increase.
The better question is: Do any of you who seek to discredit the words of my beloved Savior, know God's will for His Children? God didn't just give us a story book when He inspired his Holy Word, that we know as the Bible. He established it for our prosperity: "I pray that you would prosper and be in good health, even as your soul prospers." Praise Him!
It is God's will for us to prosper. The bible says, "I know the plans that I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope."
Listen. We as believers have to be bold in our defense of the Word of God! Do not allow yourselves to be led astray by trying to break open intimacies given by our Father to His servants the prophets without the guidance of His Holy Spirit. We are called to be 'fruit inspectors'. If what we are being taught does not line up with the Word of God, then it is to be discarded. If it lines up with His Word, and follows the tone and pattern of His Holy Spirit, then we need to embrace it. It is for us from Him.
Do NOT allow the DEVIL to block your blessings, because you don't like its packaging. You already know that your flesh wars against your spirit, and will do such until Jesus returns based on the Word! Therefore, don't allow him to be a divisive force within the body of Christ, as God delivers the keys of His wealth to you!
It is a requirement by God for believers to be givers. It is His nature to give. The bible teaches us also, "Be not deceived, for whatever a man soweth, that he shall also reap." "Whoever sows sparingly, will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously."
Instead of discrediting God's appointed messengers, ask God to bring a spotlight to your own heart, and ask Him to reveal what it is that is preventing you from moving into His abundance, and causing you to embrace the Devil's lack. It starts with you.
We've got to learn to let go of
'Poverty Mentalities' and 'Oppressed Imaginations', and run to embrace God's principles. More importantly, we have got to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ, that they would develop the mind of Christ. That they would enter into right relationship with Christ himself.
Let's get it together People! Whose side are you on?

When you see the love a devotion that people have for these false prophets, I can only think of the pictures of Hitler with his adoring followers. I don't think that demon possion means frothing at the mouth or swatting at imaginary flies, but the ability to draw people to yourself. If you are drawing people to yourself (anyone) you are drawing people away from Christ....missin accomplished!!!!

You miss the point. Jesus owned everything, Paul had a pedigree, but the thought it all as trash in comparrison to the riches of knowing Christ. Who today has that eternal perspective? John

Brother, I found your eternal perspective of the state of ones heart quite non judgemental and interesting, but was dismayed at dismissing their fruit. Jesus, John, and the 12 were all of one purpose, they spread the news of the Christ and to tell people to repent. They denied their natural lives and focused on the eternal. From this perspective, Copeland, Dollar, Osteen, etc, can't justify ANY of their preaching as being from the Lord. Jesus didn't come to save the world for a better life, He came to save us from the world into His life. John

THE SONS OF GOD FOLLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT

You say these people are brothers and sisters. But you do not know that anymore than someone can know they are not. There are other possibilities; some could be deceived by Satan and completely lost, others could be insincere and be aware that they are fooling others just to get their money. But this I know; I have been led by the Holy Spirit not to listen to their preaching or follow them in any way. It is also my form opinion that they are NOT following the Holy Spirit at all. Lou

JESUS WAS POOR

That Man I mention said this, "foxes have dens and birds have nest but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head". Jesus 1st of all did not own the donkey and 2nd the donkey was NOT like a Limo. Only the super rich or those trying to act super rich ride around in limos. The donkey was the transportation of the poor and the humble. Kings rode horses not donkeys. The super rich rode around in chariots with runners in front of them telling people to make way. Friend you are just not correct. Lou

I, too, am troubled by the tactics you describe above.
I am less troubled by the wealth and possessions of other ministers. We have to be careful about immediately dismissing all of it as ill-gotten, because the line between wealth and poverty is an arbitrary one. Easy to point and say, "A 10 million dollar home and a luxury jet is too much." What about a million dollar home and a piper cub? Still too much? Okay, how about a $250,000 home and a Caddy? You see? A $100,000 home and a Chevy is absolutely extravagant to most of the world today. What kind of home do you live in, Marsha, and what do you get around in?
A separate issue (and it must be seen as separate) is the doctrine preached by many of these men and women (some more correctly and less extremely than others). For the sake of argument, let's assume you are correct in you evaluation of it. Should I really join you in praying for exposure and personal bankruptcy? Or would it be closer to the heart of God to pray for repentance and restoration? No doubt there are real wolves among us, who know they are preaching falsehood yet continue to do it for the money it brings. Many more truly believe something that is wrong. There is a difference. To say that Copeland has gotten rich by duping the ignorant masses is imprecise, to say the least. For one thing, the vast majority of his contributors are very much aware of his wealth, the airplane, etc. For another thing, Copeland probably does believe everything he preaches, so while it might be wrong (I don't think it all is), it is not duplicitous, in which case correction is what we should pray for, not pesonal failure and public embarassment.
I say all this convinced that most of the people you have targeted here, while deserving of scrutiny and in some cases censure, are nonetheless brothers and sisters, however misguided on this issue.

That man was not poor in wallet or in Spirit. Riding into town on a Donkey was like riding into town in a Limo today.
Not that what these folks have done is right. Just that you are comparing apples to oranges.

BLESSED ARE THE POOR - WOE TO THE RICH

There was a Man who did not even own a house or even a horse. He had to borrow a donkey colt to ride into Jerusalem. The only thing that Jesus owned was the robe on his back and the soldiers who crucified Him on the cross threw lots for it. Where was the mansion and airplane for Jesus, did Jesus have faith. This Jesus said this; 20Looking at his disciples, he said:
"Blessed are you who are poor,
for yours is the kingdom of God.
21Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be satisfied.
Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.
22Blessed are you when men hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.
23"Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.
24"But woe to you who are rich,
for you have already received your comfort.
25Woe to you who are well fed now,
for you will go hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will mourn and weep.
26Woe to you when all men speak well of you,
for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets. -- Are the words of Jesus true, I think so. Lou

It is no wonder that America is experiencing difficulties on so many fronts. Judgment begins at the house of God (1 Peter 4:17); and that house is getting to be atrociously unkempt. The leaders of this so called "Prosperity Gospel" are using God's Word for their own mammon infested ends, and instructing their audiences to do the same thing. However, the leaders are not solely to blame. I think most of their followers are looking for anything easier than the Cross. What are the exscuses for Christians to not read their Bibles? Here is one of the main verses these people like to twist: "The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ, IF SO BE THAT WE SUFFER WITH HIM, that we may be also glorified together." (Rom. 8:16-17). The emphasized part is what they leave out, but it is a condition that must be met. "Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator." (1 Peter 4:19). God is longsuffering, but I think His patience may be running out. George Cancilla
