Love God first commandment

I am reading Dave Hunt's book, Psychology and the Church. It has opened my mind to understanding the way we Christians think today. We twist scripture to a modern, psychological meaning without even realizing it.
The reference to loving our neighbor as ourselves is the clue. Hunt gives a very good understanding of where this thinking comes from and how it has affected the way we think.
Loving God is the first commandment, not loving ourselves and loving God means obeying Him, in all things, always. To put loving our neighbor in the primary position is perverted.
This understanding needs more time and words than I have here. Please get his book and read it. Begin to understand how we think like the world, rather than the simple Word of God.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Why are we afraid of teaching this?

Agreed, good insight and timely. If only we would understand that Christianity is NOT a personnal relationship but a corporate relationship of ONE body. It's NOT about us. Galatians speaks volumes about this. John
