Trent Franks, is that fellow-legislator Barney's friend? Few geniune believers would argue against anyone thanking God for his provision-earned or unearned. Going from there, and accusing God of creating the Babelonic Whore of today is going way too far. You recklessly twist God's infinite patience into God's approval. Who would argue that God was pleased with, and therefore blessing the Soviet Union when times got much (relatively so) better and they all had food, a place to live, and a job. And this after their nation was demolished, to a degree beyond our comprehension, by the two world wars sandwiching an insane civil war. America's South suffered nowhere near that kind of destruction, but it took a hundred years for it to recover. And times are much better in India, and China right now-does that prove God is blessing them for pleasing him? Undoubtedly every blessing is from God, but is it because they are being good? America is still rich, in spite of decades of spewing our filth across the globe. Does that mean God is blessing us? Undoubtedly, but is it because we please him? Your logic is built upon a false inital premise, and circular reasoning twists you round. Instead, thank God for his patience toward us. Ask him how each one of us might be a part of an improvement, then do it.
