The primary reason the citizens of the United States of America enjoyed freedom and liberty which indeed did last for many years, is because the system of law was that of common law, or the law of nature and nature's God. Secondary, was the Constitution and its provision for a democratic republican form of government with a system of checks and balances between legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Secondary was a capitalistic free trade system of economics. When political law began to slowly emanate from the the legislature, we can see how our liberties and freedoms began to demise. Political law is an idea rooted in majority rule. Political law is not neutral, but rather a system for creating privileges. For the last 100 years, the U.S. citizens have spent large amounts of energy competing to control the political law, instead of reviving common law. It should be quite obvious from some of the judicial decisions and laws enacted most recently, that neither common law nor common sense are much intact. George Cancilla
