Thomas, this is great insight into the problem of our society. The framers of the constitution were aware of this. They said the constitution would only work for a people that believed the Bible and followed it's Author. They are being proved correct once again. These men were very wise; which means that they knew the giver of all wisdom, The Lord Jesus Christ. Lou

Common law vs. political law

Political law is not neutral. It is a system for creating privileges. Most legilation is devoted to robbing Peter to pay Paul. But a neutral form of law does exist: Common law. Every legitimate legal principle goes back to the two original laws taught by all religions and philosophies: "Do all you have agreed to do, and do not encroach on other persons or their property." The founding fathers of the U.S. did their best to make the Constitution consistent with Natural or Common law. Rights are not granted by the Consitution. They are protected by it. The Ninth Amendment states: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." Where do the "others" come from? The Declaration of Independence tell us they come from the Creator. When courts try to find ultimate law in the Constitution, they are looking in the wrong place. It is not there, and the founding fathers never intended to put it there. George Cancilla
