One more quote

Here's one more quote from Dawkins regarding his attitude toward religion (faith): "To describe religions as mind viruses is sometimes interpreted as contemptuous or even hostile. It is both. I am often asked why I am so hostile to organized religion. (Richard Dawkins, The Devil's Chaplain 2004)

Summary

If you have difficulty understanding this article, please read the following summary: 1) Wayne's introduction defines general revelation, special revelation, and reason. He explains that God has given us all three to use, however, he adds that without information (that we gain from our life experiences and information that God allows us to know through faith) we are not able to use revelation and reason. 2) He then explains his first point, which includes scholars who don't believe in any type of revelation that is dependent on faith because it does not follow the rules of establishing reason. Here are some quotes from Dawkins: a) "Faith is powerful enough to immunize people against all appeals to pity, to forgiveness, to decent human feelings." (Richard Dawkins, The Selfish Gene.) b) "Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence." (Richard Dawkins) c) "My point is not that religion itself is the motivation for wars, murders and terrorist attacks, but that religion is the principal label, and the most dangerous one, by which a "they" as opposed to a "we" can be identified at all. (Richard Dawkins, The Devil's Chaplain, 2004)" 3) He then explains his second point, which includes religious teachers who don't trust in reason because they believe it is corrupt. 4) Lastly, he explains his third point, in which he indicates that in order to understand God's Word, we must use both our reason and revelation. I hope this was helpful.

Dear Canadian friend, I'm writing a whole series of articles on Epistemology, which taken as a whole, will obviously make much more sense than one essay alone. I would advise you to watch "The God Delusion Debate" between Richard Dawkins and John Lennox where Prof. Dawkins most definitively uses the word "Evil" to refer to faith. Israel

IF THE SHOE FITS WEAR IT

Instead of trying to put this shoe on Israel Wayne I think you need to try it on your own foot. It seems to fit your own foot pretty well. Lou

M.de la Wayne has done what most over energetic religios do, he poses so meny supositions and what if's that there is no decirnible question in the article. Mr.Wayne what are you talking about? Weather in a box for X number of years or sitting in Library you are still full of hot air, you talk a lot but say nothing. If you have anything to say then leave the suppositions at home and SAY IT, and Richard Dawkins does not equate "faith" with evil, he never did. Evangelicals' say that but it is not true. Now Mr.Wayne do you have anything to say that is worth listening to?
