ray's prediction of professor responses is exact
Posted On: 04/16/08 07:10:56 PM Age 19, LA
I am taking an honors biology class and I occasionally ask questions whenever he (the prof) mentions evolution. I usually don't say to much, I guess out of respect, but I have asked a few. He would usually say something about micro-evolution and stop it there or something like that. I guess I should start being more aggressive and prove to my classmates how stupid the fairy-tale is. But, my professor's reasoning and responses flow just as Ray says they do. man, ray, you've got a lot of experience preaching for 20 or 30 years or whatever it is.

I may not be a rocket scientist a math genius a college scholar a historian a literary professor a mechanical whiz but I heard, read, and saw an empty tomb on t.v. and as a young girl I believed. I hear the holy spirit speak I see with the Lord's help sometimes I even speak wisdom he gives me. They speak but they're dumb They hear but they're deaf They see but they're blind.

Why So Close-Minded?
Posted On: 04/16/08 03:00:38 PM Age 28, AZ
"I'm a devout Christian, and the fact that you are preaching this close-mindedness in this day and age is silly." I agree with this. I am neither a devout theist or atheist, since both are extremely close minded. But Ray Comfort and many of the commenters here are being extremely narrow-minded. I hear the website admin is also deleting 'atheist' comments (though the ones I have seen are insulting and inappropriate, no so blame there...). But I just don't see how anyone outside of the Christian Worldview Network can take any of this seriously. Ray isn't questioning anything, he's taking the Bible at face value. Is this not a complete intolerance against anyone who doesn't share the same exact point of view? I send the same message to non-believers who refuse to acknowledge religious teachings. Atheists can be just as close minded.

Where have all the bones gone?
Posted On: 04/16/08 11:35:02 AM Age 45, CA
I am reading Ray's book, "How to Know God Exists", and am finding it to be very informative and easy to read. If Ray makes this point in his book, then I haven't gotten to it, yet. But the Bible also states that we were formed from the dust of the earth. It was in the 20th century that science was able to prove that the minerals in the human body are the same minerals found in the dust of the earth. Consult the back of any multi-mineral bottle for more details. I would also like to respond to the gentleman who, although he's a Christian, doesn't believe in Creation the way the Bible describes. The fossil record proves that animals appeared all at once fully formed as we know them today. Then the fossil record also shows that they suddenly disappeared, almost as if there were some kind of a flood, or something. The Bible speaks of it in simplistic terms because it's simplistic. We serve an awesome God!

good article

Ray, this is an excellent article. I am just surprised at some of the feedback comments. It is amazing at the lengths that some people will go to discredit what God has clearly communicated to us. If you really, honestly dig deep, you will find that creation as clearly stated in Genesis is correct. It makes sense. The fossil record backs it up. Death is the result of sin. Jesus did not come to save the single cell amoebas - He came to save us. I hope that people will go see the new Ben Stein movie "EXPELLED" coming out soon.

Stop the bloodshed

Evolution's bloody legacy should be enough to make one think there is a better way.To tell a small child that he came from a monkey is a lie. Why?Because it cannot physically happen. That experiment when down in flames,http://creationontheweb.com/content/view/5198/ That should tell any rational mind that it cannot happen. Therefore telling people that is a lie.Evolution is unproved, and has never been observed,If evolution were true, there would be no question. We must teach our children not to be intimidated by their peers and to challenge them. The enemy wants robots. Not thinking minds.

A MUCH OLDER LAW
Posted On: 04/16/08 10:30:07 AM Age 64, OH
If you want to follow the laws of the Bible then the older the law the more authority it has. Man" laws are different because man laws are not perfect and he has to change them often. So the later the law, the more authority. But God's law's are perfect and never change. So in God's laws the older the law the more authority. Here is a law that is much older than the 10 commandments,God spoke this in the garden to Eve: Genesis 3:3 Then the LORD God said to the woman, "What is this you have done?" The woman said, "The serpent deceived me, and I ate." 16 To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and HE WILL RULE OVER YOU." - Women have been rebelling against this law from God ever since. The more rebellion there is the worse off we are. Lou

Enough is enough!
Posted On: 04/16/08 10:28:09 AM Age 38, GA
The very reason for the title is simple.Enough is enough. Why?We have seen what happens when man turns his back on God.We have seen what happens when Christians lay dormant, and don't use the power that has been given unto them by God himself. Our children have suffered because of this.Evolution has not only left a blood stained legacy, but countless people are roaming this earth, and await an eternal torment because they have been betrayed.Millions of students of our schools and universities thought they could believe what their teachers were telling them was indeed the truth. But to no avail,we have found out the hard way.Man is fallible. The heart is wicked and deceitful.Who can know it?The only way to stop the bloodshed is through prayer without ceasing, and being specific in our prayers. Not only that, but we must teach our children how to trust in the lord, and look right through these people that are decieving the world. We all could discuss all day,and in great detail the pitfalls and lies of evolutionary belief, but it can and will fall onto reprobate minds.Especailly when it comes to an adult that has been indoctrinated. The humanists, and we could name some names and organizations at this point, that know the only way to turn hearts and minds from God is get them young.Start them off early. That is why our children are at risk. They believe that they can destroy God and his word in this manner. It's time for Christians to fight.Meek does not mean weak.We must hold fast to the promises of God,and get up,and fight. There is tons of literature out there so the thinking minds of the world. If information is what they want, then that is what we can give them.Christians,be angry and sin not.Don't give up.Don't give in.Don't throw in the towel.Get in the trenches and fight. In Christ, Derek

RE:Species is not the same as kind
Posted On: 04/16/08 10:25:16 AM Age 40, CA
I thought what we author was implying through his use of Speciation was the supposed observation of one species becoming another species. While Darwin was on the Galapogas islands, the different finches he mistakenly categorized as different species because of their beak size.

Some crazy responses
Posted On: 04/16/08 09:51:26 AM Age 37, TN
The 2nd commandment says don't make any graven image. I think you mean the 1st commandment. And neither confirms multiple gods. Have you ever heard the saying, "don't make money your god"? many people do make money or success their god. However, that doesn't actually mean that money is a literal god. The desire for wealth and power is no different today than it was 4,000 years ago. One writer says, "And however man came into being--evolution or by some special creation--" no problem. But that is not the issue. As Ray said. IF it is TRUE, embrace it. Darwinism as it is preached is unprovable. that is a plain fact. the bible is actually quite clear in that it tells you when it is being literal or poetic, or symbolic. There are no doctrines being formed or challenged based on the bible stating that Ceasar Augustus did a census of "all the world." i guess the author assumed that most people have common sense.

great post

I could not have said it better myself. Just because a person has a degree in theology does not qualify them to disprove evolution or even qualify them comment on its overall truthfulness. It would be insanity suggest such a thing. So many Christians complain when people take God's word out of context to prove contradiction or deny His existence. But then turn around and commit the same sin with science. In my humble opnion they are the greater of the evils because they are hypocritical. You can challange evolution or any scientific theory or hypothesis but to attack with vigor and use fear mongering only PROVES one self to be lacking in proper abilty or training in reasoning well.

Fundamentalist?
Posted On: 04/16/08 12:12:02 AM Age 52, GA
My dear sir, if you were a fundamentalist, you wouldn't wonder how man came into being. "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:... So God created man in his [own] image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." Gen. 1:26-27 One thing that many have overlooked in this debate, is that the deceiver has been at work from the beginning. The old man, the dragon, the liar, the father of all lies, has been at it a long time. Are you too smart for the deceiver? Have all the scientists in the world outsmarted him? Do they now have it all figured out, and his tricks and lies have all been uncovered? Is your spiritual discernment such that, now you have complete clarity, and the Word of God is simply a byline to the real story figured out by us humans? If you look to our Lord's example, He only responded with scripture. Why did he do that? Was he not smart enough or man enough or Godly enough to deal with satan off the cuff? Be sure of what you now see, which is as through a glass darkly, according to scripture my brother... Thus I refer you to these verses - "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:3-9 If you'll recall, doubting the Word of God as suggested by the tempter, to Eve in the beginning, is what got us into this mess. That is, if you are fundamentally a Bible believer? Follow our Lord's example, have faith, and banish doubt. That is the way, He is the way! Porter +++

Who Do You Believe, Jesus or Darwin?
Posted On: 04/15/08 10:12:03 PM Age 81, TX
Jesus said to those in His day, "You wouldn't believe Moses and you won't believe Me." Moses said that God created the heavens and the earth in six days (the word "day" meant a literal 24-hour day), and Jesus said that God created the heavens and the earth. I would rather believe Jesus, the Son of God, who is alive ever more, than Darwin, who is dead and even doubted later in life that evolution could be proven (and it hasn't). The Processes
Posted On: 04/15/08 09:33:15 PM Age 72, AR
If one truly believes God created man, Earth and universe, he must also believe that she also created the processes like tides, winds and evolution. Thinking is perhaps the most marvelous of all the processes, but is evident in this article only for having been displaced by irrationality. Evolution, like the timing and height of the tides and power of the wind, is something to be learned and understood. It is not something that needs to be believed. All people interested in other things, other pursuits, need to know about evolution is that it works. That it has worked repeatedly and continues to work today, and has never failed to function. It is not responsible for the origination of life, but it is responsible for turning basic life into functioning organisms of all sorts, and for doing so many times over, most notably after all five mass extinctions but more quietly as a continuing process. It is irrational, and deleterious to man's well-being, to fight knowledge, of which evolution is an important portion.

Disappointing
Posted On: 04/15/08 08:08:22 PM Age 55, AL
I'm a devout Christian, and the fact that you are preaching this close-mindedness in this day and age is silly. Its childs play. Evolution is based on centuries of empirical data. It is based on very simple, very logical principles, supported IN PARALLEL by research done in biogeography, biochemistry, anatomy, embryology, etc. There is a WEALTH of information supporting evolution in every aspect of science that touches upon it. Seriously. When people find out the church is unwilling to coexist with logic and science, THEN you will find people turning their backs. More damage than good, Mr. Comfort, more damage than good. God Bless, and I hope for your one life through God that you don't remain so ignorant.

I too say to search
Posted On: 04/15/08 08:03:03 PM Age 60, PA
I am 60 years old scientist, and have been researching the scientific issues surrounding evolution since 1976. I suppose in the last 32 years I have read about 30,000 pages of scientific journals, white papers, technical monographs, peer reviewed journals, etc. In all of that time, through all of that mountain of information, I have not found even the smallest hint that evolution is true. And that is not just in say biology, but in every spoke of the evolution wheel. What I have come across is thousands of times where evolutionists, not being scientists, resort to what is called a "Just so story". A just so story is a figment of the imagination, a scenario dreamt up by a non-scientist to explain something without having to actually provide any physical evidence. Darwin started out the genre when he hypothesized about how the giraffe got its long neck. Stretching for the upper leaves. Yep, that was the ticket. But it is not scientific evidence. It is just a story. I find that evolutions invariably cite a series of "just so stories" and think that they are citing evidence. All they are doing is an exercise in imagination. To say there is no evidence is an understatement. There is a total lack of evidence in biology, paleontology, geology, acheology, cosmology, and any other 'ology I may have missed. The lack of evidence is a universal thing. As a scientist, I take offense that people such as them even try to use the name of science to try to holster their strange myth. Remember, in order for something to fall within the realm of science, it has to be observable, reproducable, and falsifiable. Evolution and all the spokes of the evolution wheel do not fall within those confines. Creation, on the other hand is another question. The evidence indicates beyond a doubt that all that we see is the result of special creation. While creation can not be included in the realm of science for the same reasons, it can be verified by the physical evidence. Both evolution and creationism are predictive in what we should see in the physical record. After 32 years of research, it is abundantly clear that ALL the physical evidence that we see is what creation would predict we should see. There is nothing in the physical evidence on the earth that would have been predicted by evolution. Therefore evolution is a bizarre myth, a cruel hoax, a mindless anti-knowledge.

You say "research the subject by yourself, and you will discover the truth". Ummm, isn't that precisely what Mr. Comfort's article urges everyone to do? Have you in your 21 years ever seriously studied the Creationists' scientific arguments? No, you have not. One weekend of doing so and you'd be a former evolutionist. You can read at least two of the very best ones right online Start with Darwin's Enigma by Luther Sunderland and In the Beginning by Dr. Walt Brown http://www.creationism.org/books/sunderland/DarwinsEnigma/ www.creationscience.com/ As some very wise person once said, "Be honest with yourself". :o)

let's think about this
Posted On: 04/15/08 07:54:01 PM Age 46, WI
When we refute others comments if we are Christian's dealing with Christian's we should be looking to scripture to help us. In Dt 32:39 “See now that I myself am He! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand. The Holy Bible : New International Version. electronic ed. Grand Rapids : Zondervan, 1996, c1984, S. Dt 32:39 This clearly says there is but One God not many. Dt 32:44 44 Moses came with Joshuah son of Nun and spoke all the words of this song in the hearing of the people. 45 When Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day, so that you may command your children to obey carefully all the words of this law. 47 They are not just idle words for you—they are your life. The Holy Bible : New International Version. electronic ed. Grand Rapids : Zondervan, 1996, c1984, S. Dt 32:44-47 Dt 31:15 15 Then the Lord appeared at the Tent in a pillar of cloud, and the cloud stood over the entrance to the Tent. 16 And the Lord said to Moses: “You are going to rest with your fathers, and these people will soon prostitute themselves to the foreign gods of the land they are entering. They will forsake me and break the covenant I made with them. 17 On that day I will become angry with them and forsake them; I will hide my face from them, and they will be destroyed. Many disasters and difficulties will come upon them, and on that day they will ask, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is not with us?’ The Holy Bible : New International Version. electronic ed. Grand Rapids : Zondervan, 1996, c1984, S. Dt 31:15-17 There is danger in taking up other (secular) idea's and embracing them. The unbeliever can not see the truth. 2 Cor 4:3 3 If the Good News we preach is hidden behind a veil, it is hidden only from people who are perishing. 4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. Tyndale House Publishers: Holy Bible : New Living Translation. 2nd ed. Wheaton, Ill. : Tyndale House Publishers, 2004, S. 2 Co 4:3-4 I thank you Ray for being faithful to God and writing article's that trigger the minds of other believer's. You may not all agree with Ray's idea's but you will have to admit that he loves the Lord Jesus Christ and is willing to take criticism from both Christian bothers and sisters and those who are lost. Beware Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the secular world is on the attack. Which side are you on?
