Obama's flag pin

Why does it always have to be about breaking some law? How about personal ethics, right and wrong.
And I dont care what my candidate's platform is, if he refuses to acknowledge his country, he doesnt have vote.
Ever since I heard Wright's tirades, I was pretty certain where Obama stood in relation to his country. After all, he listened to this tripe for 20 years.

It didn't offend me at all. I don't pay allegiance to the flag. As a matter of fact, I pay very little attention to it. (No pun intended)! I consider you a friend and brother in Christ. George Cancilla

remember the opression?

Look, last time i checked, the bible makes no allowances for being angry at ANYONE, no matter what their theology. Plus, Wright is angry for a reason. If you spent even one hour looking through the history of opression done towards black people at the hands of white people, you would see why. Do you think that all black people were healed the instant we illegalized discrimination and segregation? It isnt that easy! You can't opress an entire people group for over three hundred years and then say "Hey, we're sorry, be a part of our society" and then expect it to all go away. See the statistics: black people deal with crime, drug addiction, single mothers, job discrimination, segregation in the school systems still even though we supposedly "addressed" that 40 years ago. That is why Wright is pissed off. White Chrisitans turned a blind eye and even sometimes participated in the opression of black people for so long, and then all of a sudden changed their tune to follow the civil rights movement...say it with me...of the BLACK church tht was sweeping the nation. White christians have done NOTHING to reach out to misguided people like Wright. His anger, lack of forgiveness, and prejudice is wrong, but us white christians are responsible for cleaning up the mess of our ancestors whether we like it or not. -Dan Smith

I simply disposed of the one I had. I never burned on in a public protest nor have I ever defaced the flag on others cars or homes. If that still offends you, so be it.

I suggest that you do a further study of Romans 13 with mind focused on the Holy Spirit as your guide. God does not ordain evil, and the US government is evil. You can either be a part of the problem or a part of the solution. George Cancilla

What law is Obama breaking?

There is no legal requirement to wear a flag pin, nor is there one to salute the flag. I myself do not agree with his policies and simply wearing a flag pin would not change weather or not I would vote for him. If there was a candidate who had a platform I agreed with but still refused to wear the pin or even salute the flag, I would vote for him anyway for his platform is more important than any gesture.

Romans 13, what does it really say?

This chapter has been used to justify a lot of things. Just one example. The opostate swastika flying churches of Germany used it to declare that it was every Grmans Christian duty to kill the Jews.
Is saluting the flag an act Christ would call for or is it equal to bowing to an idol? The pledge of allegence? Sorry but it was not a part of this nations founding. It was invented as a tool of coersion to humiliate the Southerners after the Civil war. "Under God?" Once again, this was inserted in the 1950's and once again has no deep rooted tradition. Ever since we have paid such disfuntional lip service to God, we have actually become more Godless.
The blind patriotism you are calling for is unAmerican. I would have loved to see you attempt to force such things down the throats of Americans like Davey Crocket, Daniel Boone, Patrick Henry, and many others. Boone, Crocket, and other like them would have probably caved in your skull with a tomahawk. Blind patriotism is a toll of eveil empires. As the cold war drew to a close, I asked "Can we Americans resist the temptation that comes with our positionof power?" The answer is a resounding "No!"

The Obamas' Anti-American Sentiments

“People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and … for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.” Now I understand why Michelle Obama made this statement. How can one attend a church for twenty years and not be affected by its faith system. As a Rabbi those who want to become memebers of our congregation are explained our statement of faith and introduced to our theology. And as members they are stating that they agree with our statement of faith and theology. There is no way that Obama couldn't have known how his pastor felt about Ameria; or his anti-amerikkkan sentiments.

from anger to healing

Being angered or outraged at a blaspheming, cursing, ranting, false preacher/teacher, is not sin, and depictions of Jesus have nothing to do with the issue. This so-called Reverend should be called on the carpet for his un-Christian statements, and sharp rebuke is in order. "All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Tim. 3:16-17 "This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish (or any) fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth." Titus 1:13-14
Any theology, such as Dr. Wright's, that does not fully embrace the central theme of Christianity, which is forgiveness, should be totally rejected. Review the Lord's prayer for starters, ignoring forgiveness, and hate preaching is not from the Lord. This guy should be totally rejected, until he repents of preaching this false gospel, then the healing can begin. Otherwise, flee with the utmost speed. What fellowship hath light with darkness? Repent of the exaggerated fabrications (lies) and your unforgiveness Jeremiah!

hating your country without a cause

Is hating your country without a cause, the same as hating your brother without a cause? I warrant that it is, only in compounded multiplicity. Do you know any perfect Christians? Do you know of any perfect Christian countries? "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:1-4
Have you lived in any other countries? Wise up, we as Christians, are not supposed to badmouth others, and badmouthing the country is not helpful, constructive criticism maybe, but not badmouthing. If you don't like living here, hit the border, plenty outside wanting to come in... you too Georgie boy.
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation." Romans 13:1-2

American Flag

I have never been so impassioned as to want to burn the Ameriacan flag, but after I returned from Viet Nam and realized that I had been duped along with many other Americans, I have refused to support the evil empire called the U.S.A. I refuse to pledge allegiance to anything except Jesus Christ. I am sickened when expected to pledge allegiance at a church gathering. At one time in the history of the U.S. the flag may have had some meaning and deserve some respect. Most currently I may no homage to it, and seek to destroy the evil empire for which it stands. George Cancilla (PS: this doesn't at all mean I support Obama).

How Do we Heal?
| Posted On: 03/19/08 04:31:45 PM |
Age 50, MN |
Is it much different than white americans portraying Jesus as a european white in most depictions of him throughout our history? It's not accurate.//Wright says some things that are clearly out of bounds and wrong - but where was the white conservative church during the civil rights movement? Fighting against it tooth and nail - why was that? A few liberal churches supported the movement and were castigated for it by most. //We need to react in humbleness and sorrow to Rev. Wright's remarks - not necessarily just with anger and outrage. Then the healing can truly begin.

Does the Lord Cammand us to wear the flag pin?

I burned my flag the day Clinton became president and our current "Evil Emporor Bush" has failed to convince me to replace it. Not only do I not waer the flag pin but at my wifes citizenship cerimony or any other public event, I refuse to take part in the pledge of alegance. When the flaf comes by on parade, I turn my back to it rather than stand and put my hand on my heart. Can you show me in Scripture where I am wrong? We are the current eveil empire of the world and I refuse to pay homage to it.
