Underwater volcanic activity
Posted On: 03/26/08 10:37:06 PM Age 59, ND
There is a factor in climate change that is little publicized - underwater volcanic activity. See references at - http://www.iceagenow.com/Ocean_Warming.htm This is a much more plausible explanation for the warming of ocean waters than atmospheric changes. Furthermore, as ocean temperatures increase, the water holds less carbon dioxide. Interestingly, we don't hear about this contributing factor to climate change because it does not lend itself to a political (or other) solution.

I rather err on the side of caution

While there have been many skeptics in the last couple of years about the validity of global warming, it has become a generally accepted fact - at least on Smith Campus - that carbon emissions and fossil fuels have disrupted the natural progression of weather and have led to the phenomena we call global warming. A politician or rare scientist will occasionally come out of the woodwork proclaiming it as propaganda. Even comedian-pundit Steven Colbert asked viewers the question, "Is global warming real or are you just wearing too many layers?" But science books, Al Gore and even college classes have addressed these views with uniform dissent. Do I know the answers or all the intricate data of weather patterns? No, but I would still like to err on the side of caution and work to reduce fossil fuel emissions in order to protect the environment. Because something we all can agree on is this: whether it's cold or whether it's hot, there will be weather, whether or not.

Global Warning....and Warming

Amen.

global warming

that's a good question! Have you notice the disappearance of small, local grocery stores recently. I can't find one anywhere, that is without selling gas at the pumps. Some years back I read that because of global warming all stores that sell perisble food needs to have a particular kind of freezer that will cost hundreds of thousand of $. This would put all small business out of business while only the large chains could afford this expense. Who knows what else is benefiting big business by global warming fables. This sounds like politics paying favors to big business to me. Ann

Global warming

Weather patterns have changed are changing and will continue to change regardless of what may have caused them to change. Jesus made reference to this in Luke 21. We are living in the last days. Things are not going to go on as they have. The closer the day of the Lord approaches the more we will see those changes. Jesus is coming soon. Let us pray that we may be counted worthy to escape all that is coming upon the earth. Blessed be the name of our Lord and Savior forever. Amen and Amen

Evolution Related?

Global warming frenzy seems to be a product of people whom see secularism as their religion and evolution their messiah. They say we are in control, not God.

So what's the point???

What then is the political advantage? Other than extending pitty to Al Gore's political failures I don't see the point.

Agreed!

Good article. Hundreds of pages could be written debunking this hysterical myth, but the majority of those who have already blindly accepted it as a fact are unwilling to change their position based on the real facts. The challenge that truth-seekers face is swinging the tide of information from that of the liberal media's stance of "consensus" to the real indication the facts represent that global warming is not occurring nor would it represent the problem promoted by the environmental religion. That appears to be our primary difficulty at this time. What we now see is truth vs. religion with truth being trumped in favor of the religion of environmentalism (another form of naturalism).

Global Scamming

The issue has never been global climate cooling or global climate warming. It has always been about political power and control of the earth’s population. Sooner or later all of us will come to realize that this IPCC organization and the thinking behind it is phony. Unfortunately, severe economic damage is likely to be done by its influence before that happens. Vaclav Klaus, who has just won reelection as President of the Czech Republic, cautions: "What I see in Europe and the U.S., is a powerful combination of irresponsibility, of wishful thinking, of implicit believing in some form of Malthusianism, of a cynical approach of those who are themselves sufficiently well-off, together with the strong belief in the possibility of changing the economic nature of things through a radical political project." Communism is the future danger, repackaged as environmentalism and climate alarmism: the attractive, pathetic, at first sight noble idea that transcends the individual in the name of common good, and the enormous self-confidence on the side of its proponents about their right to sacrifice the man and his freedom in order to make this idea a reality.
