Rob Bell wanting to live while standing on springs is silly. Anyone can figure that life is more stable while standing on the rock and not springs. Especially in the flood that will come. But Rob is referring to a problem that is real; it is that his answer is even worse than the problem he sees. The brick he is talking about is the letter of the law, which is rigid and brings death. It is the Spirit of the law which is alive and brings life. But the Spirit of the law does not change; for real life is forever and does not need to grow up and then get old and die. The letter of the law is the Book and is what the pharisees put their hope in. They looked to the Book which can not talk, walk, or act and this hope leads to death; which the Book itself says "the letter of the law brings death". We need to trust in the Author of the Book; who is The Word of God and there is no One like Him. He is not a Book; but he is God Almighty and the Creator of all that there is including The Book. The Author of The Book can walk with us, and talk with us, and act on our behalf to save us. The Bible is a tremendous tool IF we look to the Author to use it is our behalf and teach us what he means in the writings in it. But if we look to the Book as it is The Word of God or God then we make it our idol which will bring death to the one who hopes in the paper and ink. The Book can not save or shed blood for us, for it possesses none. Jesus is The One who shed His blood for us and Only He can save. Read the Book and see this is what is written in it. Lou

The historic changes of the denominational churches described here could be considered as the Hegelian Dialectic. This principle explains the process of deliberately enacting social disorder and change as a means to power. To achieve a desired result, one creates a situation, then devises a solution to solve the problems created by that situation, with the final result being more power and more control. The Emerging church concepts, by their own admission, are always challenging Biblical doctrine by dialoguing to consensus, yet never reaching consensus. They are forever adrift at sea. The only "emerging" I see in the Bible is when John stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rising up out of the sea,...with the name of blasphemy written on its heads." (Revelation 13:1). That beast is the antithesis of the Body of Christ. George Cancilla
