It appears that the UMC continues to distance itself from the teaching of the Wesley's. I was saved in a Methodist Church many years ago due to the work of the Holy Spirit in my heart under the influence of gospel preaching. Today's UMC seems a long way from the past. I think Israel has a right to be where it is along with Christians and Muslims.

John and Charles Wesley would be spinning in their graves if their souls weren't in heaven. The UMC has gone so far from biblical Christianity that they should not call themselves a church. They do not believe in the authority or accuracy of the Bible. I'm not talking about the members, but the pastors. They should call themselves the United congregation of humanists, or something more accurate. Anti-semites. Disgusting. But by the grace of God there go I. We need to pray for and witness to our friends and neighbors, family members in the UMC as well as in every denomination, church, or other religion/cult until Jesus returns and separates the sheep from the goats.

Generally speaking, the rank and file of a denomination do not follow the blind lunacy of their leaders. Another denomination that seems anti-Israel is PCUSA (Presbyterian). Again, based on personal experience and data polls, it is the so-called leaders not the rank and file members.//I hope this clarifies things for you. Blessings, Herb

The Israeli government and God's people, Israel are not synonymous. Having said that, we still ought to take a good look at who our real allies are and who our enemies are. Israel has never sponsored a terrorist attack against the USA. The Palestinians have. Israel has never refused to buy from and sell to the USA, Palestine's supporters have. Israel has never been at war with the USA, Palestine's supporters have. If for no other reason, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Yes Israel is our ally, and has been more consistent in their stance as allies of the USA and of democracy than any other nation on Earth.

i truly feel sorry for the UMC - sadly they will be amongst those who cry out "Lord Lord we prophesied in Your name" to which He will reply "be gone from me I knew you not" we must continue to pray for peace in Jerusalem and that the Great I AM our Lord Jesus Christ will continue to bless His chosen people Israel.

I did not think that the Palestinians were the ones using the women (but maybe they are, there haven't been many bombings in Israel lately) and the mentally retarded. I thought that was Al-Qaida in Iraq. Hamas usually just shoots rockets from Gaza to Israel. However that is not any better, as they still intend to cause harm to everyone including the children. I still strongly oppose any "churchy resolutions" against Israel and not the Palestinians, as the leaders of Palestine have turned down all attempts to give them autonomy.

This is a frightening position for a group claiming to represent God (UMC). Scripture is pretty clear that those who bless and support Israel are blessed by God, and those who side against them are cursed by God. Political correctness, in my opinion, isn't worth bringing a curse on a denomination. I hope for their sake they wake up and put those in authority who embrace the truth and are friends with the friends of God.

Silly me. Thank you UMC for clearing up my mission as a Christian. Here I thought the purpose of the church and myself was to spread the Gospel. Who'd of thought.
