Not What I Would Have Said Myself, But Fine

He missed another opportunity to clearly enunciate the Gospel.
But, given the audience, and hoping for a return trip in the future, he did OK in my opinion.
He didn't say anything wrong.
He didn't say all that is necessary for a "man of God" to have said.
And for that, I find him lacking as an example, or a teacher for Christ.
He was not ready to give an account for the hope within him.
He was wishy washy, all gooey and give as much as we know of us to God, whatever that really means to Rick.
We need to continue to pray for Rick Warren, and the tens of thousands who are falling for a love, love, love Gospel, rather than running from their sins and pleading for mercy at the foot of the Cross.
Many will be okay in his "church," because where God's Word is spoken, people are changed.
But many more are buying into a false Gospel in this "ministry."

Saying that God is looking down and saying, "That's my boy"?? What is that? He obviously is trying to make us feel good about ourselves. Possibly using that phrase to stress God's love for his own, at least I hope he means his own. You never know about these feel gooders today. Listening to them is making me sicker and sicker. I am mourning for todays church.

Faith Comes By What?

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, the only thing I heard was Rick. His pop-psychology appraoch to the gospel is nothing short of an abomination. Indeed, he is ashamed of the gospel which is the power of God unto salvation.

Unfortunately "Statements of Faith" have become like the US Constitution. It's there for everyone to read but no one is following it or doing what it says.

Trying to be all things to all people

Let's just say it: Rick is a Universalist.
His promotion of eastern mysticism cloaked in christian terminology (i.e. breath prayers, contemplative prayer, spiritual formation) should have clued most in to this fact from the beginning. So some missed it...that happens. But how can one miss that at every opportune moment, Mr. Warren labors to be all things to all people? These are the actions of a Universalist, not a born-again Christian.

My Brother?

You know, I don't actually even consider Rick Warren to be a "brother". I've just never recognized him in that way. There's no way that this man has an intimate relationship with Christ...and he's dangerous. I'm not judging him, he judges himself, and yes, proudly. My Father says I'll know whether someone's a "brother" or not by their fruits. Works are not fruits. I'm not able to see how this man acts at home or behind closed doors. All I can know is what he so proudly and matter-of-factly preaches. No, Rick, we're NOT all going to heaven because we're good people or because we do good works. This great "Christian" leader's generic, reccomended, guideline prayer for "salvation" doesn't even mention Jesus, the Cross, the Blood or the Ressurection. These wolves don't like to talk about that "icky" old blood thing...what would people think about such violence?! Here's something to think about. When the only church that we're allowed to attend is the "State" church, who do you think that the long, black, leather coated order-keepers will choose to "head" this demonic religion? It will NOT be the voices of those crying in the wilderness:"repent". No, it will be those that have led masses down that wide easy path with that "we all worship the same god and we're all going to heaven...now don't make trouble and keep that Jesus talk to yourself" message. Be real with yourself. What is in the future if these false prophets are not stopped? Wise man, don't waste your breath telling me that there's a way I can fit in this world and be at peace with it. This place ain't my home! Jesus Himself said that He didn't come to bring peace. How is Rick Warren and his Obama going to do it?

Manay preachers I have heard always tell you what you shoul be doing or what you should be like. However they never tell you how to obtain that ability. Mainly because they don't know.
One day Jesus told me: Man does not know what he needs because he does not know what he is.

Unless we believe that Jesus really is God's son and trust in Jesus' divinity enough to believe what He said and also accept--it instead of clinging to our various doctrinal preferences--we'll all be sadly disappointed when He returns and tells many who think they're following him "I never knew you. Away from me, you evil-doers!" (Matt.8:21-23). For example, how many people truly believe and practice,"He that believes AND is baptized shall be saved..." (Mark 16:16) or "...teaching them to obey EVERYTHING I have commanded you..." (Matt.28:19-20)? How many believe, "Anyone who does not take up his CROSS and follow me is unworthy of me" (Matt.10:38) and the passage where Jesus says, "If you love me, keep my commandments"?
Every Christian needs to be clear about Jesus' claim that He is "The way, The truth and The life" and NO-ONE can go to God except through Him (John 14:6-7). We only fool ourselves (and others) if we try to teach it any other way. Being IN Christ is not that difficult (Galations 3:26-27).

Does Man Indeed...

Does man indeed have a tremendous potential for good except for an attitude of disobedience toward God? The two statements are mutually exclusive.
Look, I know that Rick Warren has a way of sounding right-on. Every time I begin to think that he's o.k., he does or says something indefensible. Yet, he seems to enjoy unquestioning loyalty from his adherents. I admit, that creeps me out.
Bottom line with RW: Confused soteriology, and a low view of scripture.

Towing the a fine line. Walking the line....................

"Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as Godīs offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sinīs penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith."
But he left out the Holiness of God, our own depraved condition and our need for repentance from sin. That Man is separated God because of sin. There is no repentance in Warren's mantra. If we are saved, we ought to know what we are saved from. He tows the line as much as he can trying to still sound Christian. Warren is such a phony.... He does this every time he gets caught. Then he comes right back with his heresies.

Warren's Church's Statement of truth
| Posted On: 02/22/08 07:47:06 PM |
Age 42, FL |
It may say that on the webpage, and hopefully it is taught at Saddleback every Sunday- but whenever I have heard Rick Warren speak, he may bring up Jesus' name but he never seems to bring up the way of salvation. The man is very influencial and moves in some pretty powerful circles, and if he was really concerned about the world- as a Bible believing Christian, he would make more of an effort to try and talk the gospel with people. His latest P.E.A.C.E plans show that he is more concerned about how humans as all a part of a global village can bring about God's Kingdom on earth. People can try, but we will never be able to solve all the world's problems. One last point here- Jesus told us that the world would hate those of us who follow Him. Rick Warren seems to want people to like him in order to make his plans a reality. He spends more time trying to make a case for making things better here on earth for man's good- but not much time teaching the Gospel message for a much better place in the next life. He may be a sincere man, but I think as Christians we must hold Christians accountable for insincere practces and teaching.

I'd like to think that you are correct but I happened to catch this video late one night. If in fact FOX is cutting, pasting and editing Rick Warren's interview in order to make him look like a false teacher, then Rick Warren should take issue with it - but he has not.

This isn't a cut and paste job, it is "Pastor" Warren's own words to describe how to get to heaven. He tells the viewer that they must work as hard as they can and Christ will do the rest. This is not Biblical Christianity, it resembles Mormonism or Catholic doctrine.
If this were my pastor the biggest question I would have is "what is enough?" How much work do I need to do? What is the minimum to enter heaven? This "gospel" would leave so much uncertainty I would fear my whole life that I wasn't doing enough to stay in God's graces.
