NEVER GOD'S WILL FOR ANYONE TO BE UNGODLY

It was not God's will that Babylon destroy Jerusalem. But the people of God refused to repent and it happened. From what you say then the church can say it was not their fault if this nation is destroyed for it was God's will. It is not God's will that we have an ungodly leader and it never will be His will. We will have a ungodly leader if we do not turn to God with all of our heart. The scriptures say that if the people of God will humble themselves and repent then God will forgive and heal this land. If this land is NOT healed then it is the fault of the people called by His name. Lou

I agree that there are many immature Christians, but it may be that we are meant to have an ungodly leader--and yet God is still sovereign.

Most Christians are unaware of their straying political support; they think that to be Christian is to be Republican (they must not be paying attention to reality)! The truth is that there are few politicians who will truly lead with conservative or moral principles, neither Republican or Democrat. They will talk the talk to get the support, but that is as far as it goes.

IMMATURITY

You say,(1) God is sovereign over everything and ultimately His will cannot be defeated; and (2) no person or group involved in politics ever gets all they want all of the time. But for Christ's sake, one must ever be vigilant in victory and defeat. And one must always find positive ways to stay engaged in the process. - This is good advise but it seems many will take their toys and go home rather than keep seeking God and asking Him what he wants us to do. Because of the IMMATURITY of many Christians it seems that Obama or Hillary will be the next president and we will have only ourselves to blame. Lou

I'm so glad that there still Christians, rare as they are, that love the truth enough to say it like this poster does. The neoconservative American church is deceived, and God's sovereign in that too.

Look back in the Book of Kings & Chronicles

Did not God allow evil Kings to come to power as well as good ones? The late Dr. J Vernon McGee once spoke of a trick in Seminary where one assignment was to name all the Kings of Isreal, including those of both the Northern and Southern Kingsdom and indicate weather or not they were good or bad kings. The trick was to simply memorise the names off all the Kings and list them all as "Bad". If you did this, you would score 95% on the test.
It has been said that God appoints two kinds of leaders. Ones who are better than what we deserve, and ones who are exactly what we deserve.

My personal reflection

I'm constantly reminded of a line by James Brown, "Don't tell me how to do my thing when you can't do your own..." We fight terrorists in Iraq (as if they are confined to one nation) while alqaeda funds underground compounds in the US, which the FBI refuses to investigate. We coerse a constitution in Iraq when we don't honor ours. We're "spreading democracy" when we know it doesn't work on its own. We try to improve life in the Mid East when we have our Folsem Street Fairs and Mardi Gras and Pride parades and provide "clean needles" to the poor in the US. We tell people all over the world that they're special and they watch us pay for Planned parenthood with tax dollars and teach our children that crossdressing and masterbating in public is better than reading-writing-math. By the end of this year, your entire identity will be packed into a little chip connected to a gov't database making you more vunerable to ID theft then ever. The chip will first be part of a national card and eventually relocated somewhere under your skin. We can thank the republicants for all of this. How can a demoncatic administration be any worse? The US church has abandonded the Bible and adopts Humanist values in its place and then worries about Islamic fanatics invading our country. I'll be voting a write-in - all I know is whoever wins the election won't have my vote. It's between me and God. USA has lost. Only God will win.

God is Sovereign

There is nothing pro life or honorable about the desecration of life in Iraq and Afganistan, perpetrated by the U.S. government. Calling such aggression defense against terrorism does not make it so, nor does it fool God. So it is shear hypocrisy to shout "pro life" and attach it to Mike Huckabee, who has inferred that continuing the U.S. genocide and aggression in the Mid East, or anywhere, is honorable. Any voluntary support for this lying, thieving, and killing U.S. government is dishonorable to God; and God will not be mocked. George Cancilla

prayer - influence with the Father

God is sovereign, but he does consider the petitions of his people. "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5) Also, we are to be actively concerned with our leadership, see first Timothy second chapter. God is sovereign, but we are not to sit on our hands and not participate. As far as Huckabee's concerned, in the words of Yogi Berra - "it ain't over til it's over".

God's Soveigntiy

Dear Mike,
Your article is one of the best I have read and closest to the truth. It is very important for us to remember to keep our Christian knowledge and convictions pure and biblical. We can control that by bible reading and walking with God. However we do not Politics, God does. When I go to the voting booth there are limited choices. If the people of our nation are so unwise that they cannot discern who the best leaders are, and vote in ungodly people, what will God do? God chose not to protect us from 9-11, why? Well one reason may be that our people were outraged at the murder of innocence in New York, but not outraged at the millions killed in our abortion mills. This is a contradiction in logic. We continue to tolerate the removal of God from government and public places, but want God when we get in trouble. To only be the wisdom. JQ

I will never vote for McCain and how you can tell us that we should vote is not any better than what Gary Bauer has done.Don't be so self rightist. I will and have been praying for our country but I will not vote for a republican just because he's the only one left.
Dr. Dobson, has at least enough guts to stand up for what he believes.
If I do anything I'll write in Mike Huckabee.
