We don't need horses but . . .

Going back to the horse is clearly not a viable approach to better caring for a planet which belongs to the Lord, and of which we are stewards. That said, all of us should be alert to simple ways that we can each reduce our personal carbon footprint: Driving a more efficient car, reducing our heating system by a degree or two and not leaving all of our house lights on. If more of us did these basic things, together, we'd make a considerable difference.

Global Warming?

I've always said that things really aren't any different now than any other time in history; man has always burned things for energy. It's like the gas issue; the only difference is that we don't have to clean out fireplaces, klinkers out of coal furnaces (or pick up manure). Now the power companies do the burning. However, I don't see newer technologies such as turning coal into another fuel as being the answer. We need to remember "The shortest distance between two points is a straight line." Corn would be better utilized for energy in corn burning stoves instead of gas. Coal is better burned directly rather than add another processing step. And biofuels will never make a dent in an ever growing demand for oil. We need to drill in the ANWAR.
