Rather than becoming angry when I read this essay, I felt terribly sad. I feel very sorry for Mr. Pullman. Despite his insistence that he is an atheist, he comes off instead as a man who believes in God, but hates Him and thinks he can hurt Him by denying Him. Instead of just portraying God as a hoax, he actually portrays God as an incompetent and a liar. You don't insult someone who doesn't exist! Mr. Pullman, I think, is just angry, and he's letting that anger destroy his life and the lives of those whom he wants to "educate." I think we should all pray for this poor unhappy man.--Mrs. Pilgrim

We, as Christian parents, must be strong and diligent to remind ourselves, and to instruct our children, of the Biblical reality of satan and his demons. Stories that make fantasy of the Scriptures, either good or bad parts, should be avoided. George Cancilla

Philip Pullman claims to be athiest but encourages experimentation with demons

Great article thanks.
There is one very serious aspect of these books (and now movie) by Philip Pullman that you have not covered however; although Pullman claims to be an athiest if you go to the movie website and read the Northern Lights book you will see that he encourages children to believe in demons and to invite them into their lives.
See http://www.goldencompassmovie.com/
Find the meet your daemon part and read what it says about how daemons are visible in the kingdom of Northern Lights but can be brought into the real world with you, where they are invisible.
It then invites you to create your own personal daemon.
The book this movie is based on (which won awards as best childrens') is already quoted in Irish "English comprehension" school books with homework exercises as follows...
* Create your own daemon.
* Name it.
* Decide what animal shape it will take when it is outside of you
* Give it its powers.
* Draw it.
* Write a story about how you have an adventure with your daemon and it helps you.
Many, many children will experiment with dark spiritual forces as a result of this movie giving the adversary a legal right to intefere in their lives and reaping much destruction. Be on guard brethern.

Hello TX, I'l admit right at the start I am a great fan of Pullmans series, however that said, this is a refreshingly (compared to some on other Christain sites) well written fair article, though I would not agree with it all. I was intrested by your opening statement of "sounds like" I would encourage you to go and read the books yourself and see whay "you"think about them. Rgards, Steve

Wow, sounds like this guy basically completely and brazenly plagiarized the world's best-loved childrens' stories and twisted the stories into something evil, an attempt to destroy Christianity. Sounds like what our adversary does, as the accuser of the brethren. All of the hate-filled ones will stand in judgment one day before the One that they so viciously struck out against, the One who gave them life and breath and all common grace, and they will be judged in righteousness and be sent to Hell.
I can only pray that Mr. Pullman repents and comes to a knowledge of the truth before it's too late.
blessings to the christianworldviewnetwork community, I am blessed, encouraged, and instructed by the articles that many faithful men and women write here (as well as the feedback of those who read the articles).
