When you look at the current situation you see that the government not only does not support Israel but that it undermines any attempt by Israel to defend itself against the threat by surrounding terrorists. A non-intervention policy would allow Israel to do what it is very capable of doing, which is defending itself. As far as supporting Israel as a State there is no Christian reponsibility to take that side politically. As far as supporting the jews as a people, it can be accomplished at the individual, Church organization, or even secular organization level. Why do we want the government to do everything for us and not take personal responsibility for supporting those causes which we find worthy (in this case the jewish people)? Let's not pawn off our responsibilities to the government. Every power we give to the government is a right we lose, a choice we don't get to make anymore because we told the government to choose for us. Our forefathers must be spinning in their graves.

All I said was that we needed to emphasize putting people who actually support and intend to make law by the Constitution in Congress as well as 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue; and I get a response pertaining to whether Christians should support Israel. And while we are on that particular subject, the Bible tells us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, which is the ultimate way of supporting Israel. Secondly, does anyone seem to notice a pattern of weird weather hitting (particularly Texas) whenever the Bush administration puts pressure on Israel to give up more land (including Jerusalem) for the failed Roadmap. Lastly, while most Christian leaders do emphasize support by the government for Israel, they emphasize to a larger degree individual support.

Aren't Ron Paul supporters forgetting something?

It seems the Ron Paul supporters seem to have forgotten that the President; while he can support, suggest and promote laws, cannot directly MAKE law. That is the role of the legislative branch including the House (where Rep. Paul is currently a member) and Senate. So it seems like, assuming Ron Paul does become President, with a House and/or Senate made up of people who either despise or merely pay lip-service to the Constitution; the result would be a wasted 4-8 years. My point is simply that we should be putting at least equal emphasis on Constitutionalists in the House and Senate as the Ron Paul camp is in trying to get him in the White House.

Standing strong against Islamic terrorism, or any terrorism, is to stand strong for the U.S. Constitution. The more imminent terorristic threat to the people of the U.S. is the current federal government operating outside the Constitution. Why should Christians or anyone feel obliged to support the geographic, political state of Israel? The Constitution would have the U.S. body politic stay out of the affairs of sovereign foreign nations. As a Christian, outrage to heinous sin may be acceptable, but any kind of violent retaliation is not. George Cancilla

Again this article appears to be a promotional ad for Ron Paul who hasn't proven to me he would be able to stand strong against Islamic terrorism. He also doesn't distance himself from conspiracy theorists and those who would seek to destroy Israel. Check out his beliefs on our government's support of Israel causing the terrorist attacks of 9/11. I have yet to see evidence he is even a supporter of Israel--God's chosen people. True Christians will support Israel. Finally, if Ron Paul is a Christian, why isn't there outrage against the Islamic suicide bombers who attack Israel and our troops? I would like to see a realistic compelling plan to take on Islamic fundamentalism and I don't mean with dialog. Anybody who believes you can dialog with terrorists and succeed will not get my support.

I can see no reason why God would not bless the desire to uphold and live by the Constitution of the United States...unless, of course, the document became idolized. "Pre-emptive" war should be considered unacceptable to any civilized people, Christian or otherwise. In the casse of Osama Bin Laden and Al Quaeda purportedly destroying the World Trade Center, and the US Government attacking Afghanistan where he and they were supposedly hiding out: well, that would be the same as if I and some friends committed a heinous crime, then fled to Argentina; giving the government cause to attack that country. I do believe that self defense is justifiable, whether it be at the personal, family, or state level. Self defense does not include attacking some neighbor who owns a gun, under the premise that the neigbor might use that gun to kill me. I can't help but think of Ross Perot's campaign slogan of "Clean out the barn," referring to government. The federal bureaucracy needs to be disinfected back to the purity of the orginal Constitution and Bill of Rights. George Cancilla
