I have to say, I have no clue what you are talking about. Where are these people located, the coasts? In my neck of the woods, they talk about beer, trucks, farming, huntin, girls, trucks, and beer. Yea, it starts and ends with beer and trucks. :-)

This is such good news. i am by no means a girlie girl but i don't find the girlie men aka metrosexuals in the least bit attractive. i am not interested in someone who is prettier than me or who is more concerned with his appearance than he is with me me when we go out. i prefer someone who is willing to take care of me and make sure i am safe. welcome back to the john waynes and clint eastwoods of the world.

Nice article and good news to boot. I appreciated how you pointed to the correct culprit that is the folks who desire to sell us stuff. Unfortunately it is all too easy to fear man and allow ourselves to be dupes to those who sell by playing on that fear and others.
Men are all different and need to act as they are made. Some are rugged by their character and some more refined. Neither is wrong unless one is not being as they were made. There was only one John Wayne and he was no ideal just a man. There again a man in a suit is probably where he belongs.
If you want an ideal guy check out some old school examples in the New Testament. Most of the good examples were self sacrificial, peaceable, wise, loving, strong, able to endure hardship, and humble. Not a good target demographic but a great group to learn from.

I agree with you that menergy is better than metrosexual but I disagree with your statememt that menergy will "reintroduce the ideal manly man". I find "gay" an abomination and I am a man, but I focus on a Man with all I am given grace to focus. There is Only One True Man in the universe. The appearance of this Man was not worth noting in the scripture. He left paradise and came down to earth and did not own a home or a horse. He never had anything except the one robe on His back. The scripture tells us that our attitudes should be the same as His.-- 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
7but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature[b] of a servant,

i dont even like WOMEN who basically fit the description of the metrosexual, much less men who do. Praise God for manly men who will stand up against social pressures and be the MEN that God intended them to be. (i guess i'll never gripe again b/c my husband hates shopping more than even i do). the news from california is another reason we homeschool...and my manly man husband teaches the children too!!!!!!
